Adding an alt and adding a second battery do completely different things for your charging system. Id do the one that fits your needs.

And don't use a deep-cycle battery for the rear battery - they are built more durable via the use of thicker plates in the battery - which make for slower transient response - transient response being something batteries are already inherently slow with, even non-deep-cycle types.
I disagree with not using a deep cycle geo. Yes they are a bit slower, but much more durable, which is an issue. Adding a rear battery with an isolator or relay (I wouldnt recommend not using one) is done to allow more off-engine play time. This means the rear batt will be discharging and recharging on a regular basis (assuming you use it for what you installed it for). Deep cycle batteries can be completely drained, and then recharged, with little or no ill affect. Non deep cyce batteries however are hurt by a complete discharge. Every time you discharge a regular batt and then recharge it, it loses some capacity. If you are worried about response time, you can add a cap.

From what I've read, LiFePO4 works with lead acid, LTO does not. I have only personally tried LiFePO4. I personally can't justify the extra hassle...

I'm not an expert on Lithium by any means. All I can say is I've played my system for about 2 hours at about half volume(20/36 on the headunit)...
