Battery Light

Yesterday I got like 2 new songs and I wanted to see how hard they hit so I was driving around yesterday and sometimes when I have like a rolling bass song my battery light will flicker every once in a while

But this time the battery light is staying on, does that mean the battery is crapping out or the alternator?

btw i drive a 1997 chevy 1500 reg cab

and only have a 1000 watt and a 250 watt amp

Check the alt. I had a saturn once and when the light came on the alt died like 2 days later

When it does that in my car, it means the voltage is dropping below 10.5v

Go to autozone and get them to check your battery. They do it for free, and if it needs charging, they will do it for free as well.

Doing the Big 3 from what I've seen will help tremendously.

it can be a couple of scenarios :

too much voltage (ie:winding going bad in the alternator and the current output is low but the voltage is extraordinarily high such as 17 volts)....or low voltage and nominal current (still a winding going bad just in a different manner).

or

Battery has a bad cell, pulling way too much current to charge it or some connection to the battery itself or the alternator has come loose or not conducting properly.

Word. Take it to Autozone to have them help ya out. I'm not sure about your town, but around here, all the Autozone employees are awesome. They helped me install my new battery and everything.

I just got back from auto zone they said my alternator was putting out like 35amp and it should bee like 80-100

but the strange this is the guy didnt even have my truck running while he was checking it....called my dad and told him now hes calling them and asking how the hell they tested the alternator with my truck off

i know very little about cars and even i thought that was strange
