Battery in box

Alright, here's my setup: 1/0 running down the side of my car into the trunk, hooked up to a distribution block and put out to three 4 gauge cables, each hooked up to an amp (yes even the 20.1 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif)

My plan: use the 1/0 in the trunk which is a little short anyways and replace the distribution block with a fuse holder and a 200 amp fuse. Put a Optima Yellow Top IN the box and have 1/0 to distribution block for the 2 small amps and 1/0 from that battery to the 20.1.

Will that work? I'm not running another 1/0 on the side of the car and my 20.1 isn't liking the 4 gauge (getting hot). It will raise the tuning of the box (which I need anyways).

Will the heat in the box affect the battery's operation? Is it a good idea? I have NO room in my car/trunk for a battery except for there.

My intial reaction is BAD IDEA. But I don't know for sure.

Maybe, not sure how much 1/0 I'll have after the big 3.
The battery won't be breathing... it'll be in the box. The box is ported but it's a 10 cube box.
I wouldnt put the battery inside the box man....U know when you install a battery never to smoke a cig when you're near it cause theres fumes that the battery gives off while its charging and it'll blow up if any sparks.....and thats the reason I wouldnt do that.....I dont even know if those fumes will harm your subs.....

well i remember seeing someones lincoln ls that had 2 18in xxx's and the box had 2 optima redtops under each sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif but i wouldnt do that tho like killahbean said

Yeah.... **** I wish I had room for the battery //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Optima's batteries don't release gasses. They are completely sealed.

As far as the mounting the battery in the box thing goes, it wouldn't be my ideal location, and I'd probably exhaust all other options first. However, if it's the only place to go with, what are you going to do? First, I would make sure that the displacement of the battery isn't going to throw off your box dimensions too much. Pull the sub from the box and maybe temp install the batt in the box to get a real world impression on how it will affect the sound. If that's all good, install the battery very securely in the box, be sure to seal up the holes for the cables really well. To be safe after all that, maybe pull the sub and check the install out once a week for awhile, gradually increasing time in between checks. I really wouldn't recommend doing what you are thinking. If there is no other place for it, maybe look into modding the spare tire well and install a battery box in it. Even if it would mean cutting out the sheet metal and having it stick out from under the car a few inches, I think that would be a better route than putting it in the box.
