Battery Hell !!!!

Are you on any Viper forums? Cause usually there is someone that can flash eproms for just about anything, if you can find the right guy with a programmer. Im a vette owner and there are some things we like to "delete" from prom's such as temp sensor settings that interfear with the fuel mixture and such,.....I know if we can get those bits changed in the logic, a measly logic interlock wouldnt be anything any more complicated. Maybe I can get you in touch with somoene with a programmer off the corvette forums that I know, if you are interested in that route.

Thanks Dan , but this problem was with my SRT-4 and not the Viper.

Blue- I only have my work internet connection right now and all the photohosting sites are blocked so I can't see your pics in your sig. What car do you have?

Based on your description, you likely won't see relief from a battery. Since you already bought one, I hope it works for you, but you are trying to keep voltage from dropping from 14V by adding a 12V current source. What will likely happen is that you will get some good dimming for a while and then once the battery discharges a bit and demands a decent charging current from the alt, it will up its output and everything will be peachy for a minute or two and then the whole cycle will start over again.

Your case is actually one of the ones made to order for a large cap. It will supply current starting at 14V for the transients and then quickly recharge during the lulls between. Most people think that the low droning bass it what requires a lot of current, but in my experience, I've had more problems with dimming on the transient kick drums in rock and metal.

This problem is with my Dodge SRT-4 ..... I needed a better battery anyway , so ...... If this doesn't do it , I'll look at a Batcap , but from EVERYTHING I've read , caps are waaaay overrated. your logic sounds good though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

saw above. What year SRT? I have an '03. 165 A alt for that year, but similar problem.
If you find a computer fix, pls let me know.

1000 HP? Pretty healthy mods, no?
Woah .... Nelly !! The 1000+ hp is for my supercharged Viper. The SRT is 477 whp. Oh yeah , the SRT is an '04 ....

Like I said, can't see pics. That's what I was thinking though...

Caps are overrated *except* in a situation like that. A Batcap is nothing more than a battery with a low ESR and slightly higher discharge voltage. Still probably won't help.

The key to a cap being useful in your situation is that the alt *is* strong enough to power the system, you just need to get the power out of the alt and that takes time. The cap can buy you that time.
