Battery/16V question?

Here, locally, batteries such as the Optima Yellow top (not sure what size, they only had one size of the Yellow and one size of the Red) are around ~$350 per battery.

If everything goes to my plans, if I get a job, I will buy two SAZ-3000D refurbs from dB-r, and put one on each sub, I have two Mach 5 SPL-12s.

I have found a supplier in China, (I know...) who can sell me 12V batteries, that are deep cycle, sealed batteries, for about $80 shipped for a 125aH battery.

I don't think they had any 16V batteries, but could I use some 8V batteries and just wire them together? If I remember right from grade 5 you can get 16V depending on how you wire them?

Well if I run 16V i'd be getting proper alternators.

My plan was to run two additional alternators, AD244s from the early-mid 2000s Fullsize GMs, the 145amp versions. Not sure if you can have stock alternators modified to put out 16V and not increase there output, to keep the costs down... Not trying to cheap out but not trying to spend all my money either. I have to paint my truck, will need some odds and ends, and want to put air ride on it, so that will cost a bit of dough too.. Don't really want to buy stuff from the states, as shipping is a PITA, and is usually costly, plus the exchange rate is down again. I've found yellow tops cheaper everywhere else but Fort Mac. Only place I've found them was The Parts Counter, brynm, if you been around town a bit I'm sure you've seen that shop in Gregoire?

Anywho. I will look and see if I can get decent sized 8V batteries.. If not, I'm just going to run two AD244s on 12V... if I get the SAZ's, 3000W a sub should be enough for my regular cab DD.

Anybody see any issue with running Chinese batteries? I've seen on some battery supplier's websites in the states, they have chinese batteries, rebadaged as there own brand. I figured go to the source..

ppl and thinking its so much better to get a bunch of low volt batts. if yer gonna do 16v just spend the money and get 1 or 2 16v batts and be be done with it and get a external voltage reg. why waste room with 8v batts if yer just end up with 4 of them.

I had originally planned on buying 12V Powermaster D3100s.. I was gunna buy 3 or 4. Cheapest shipping I could get was around a grand, through UPS.

No thanks.

I may be able to get some 8v batteries that are deep cycle, seen some decent sized ones, 30aH, (10 hour rate, not sure what that means, still learning batteries) and theres some 180aH batteries that are 8V. so if you get two 180aH batteries, and wirer them in series, you have 16V but ~360aH capacity?

If I can't get alts to do 16V without killing my budget, I'll just run 12V.
