The factory headunit stays, it has navigation with traffic updates and I've been getting free Sirius XM now for 3 years since the car was new. It was supposed to shut off after the 3 month trial but never did

i never said anything about taking out the factory head unit. I just said bypass all the bullsh*t completely.

That's what i plan on doing, hence grabbing signal before the factory amp. It sounds like I'll need to wire in a switch to prevent the dsp from popping on turn on/off.

you dont even grab signal before the factory amp. The signal path would be your phone to bluetooth dongle to DSP. Thats going to sound cleanest. Disregard any signal from the head unit path completely.
