Basic amp question

So, it turns out I blew my old planet audio 4000 watt amp and I'm now in the market for a new one. My system is pretty basic as I have a SVC Kicker 10" comp sub. My question is; how many watts should my amp be at a minimum to get the sub to operate at its maximum? Should it be a mono amp or should I look at a two channel and bridge it? Any input is welcome.

Thanks

You have a blown cap in the amp more than likely. Had the same thing happen to a soundstream amp.
