bandpass fail?

I just realized that my last box was a bandpass box, I had someone from my old job build it and the subs sounded good, but when it came to lower notes, seemed like the output was being hindered, should I try a ported box that is actually tuned to a low frequency before getting rid of these subs? It might of just been the design of the bandpass box. I'm assuming it was a 4th order? If so, those can be designed to go looooow.

I have no clue, but my subs were fully enclosed, they were facing the cabin along with a 16" long port that went into the cabin, I'm thinkin it may have been the design, I'll try another box

A 4th order is a sealed box and a ported box. Only 1 port? That's probably a 4th order. Do you have a pic?

I don't know if these will help, but I do know that there were two chambers in the box, the subs were also facing the cabin

That looks like a small port.

hold on... was the speaker visible , like nothing covering the front of it if so it was not a bandpass it was a ported box..

I bet he has a sub on either side of that port that we can't see...probably just a ported box.

OP, in a 4th order bandpass you'll have the subs in a sealed chamber, firing into a ported chamber, and all of the output is coming from the port itself...so you'll have to look inside the port to be able to see the subs.
