Bad noise with subwoofer @ high volumes

It makes a thud sound and I'm not sure if it has to do with my subwoofer bottoming out, the enclsosure size, or the fact that I only have a 3/4" baffle. I've been told that adding a double baffle will fix this issue, but I wanted to make sure it's not more than that before I do.

Thoughts?

It's got nothing to do with your baffle. It's either clipping or the woofer bottoming out. You're overdriving your speaker, just back off of it a bit.

I took it out of the car, and pushed in on it about as far as I could. I didn't hear anything at all, no scraping, no touching, nothing. I'm about to take the woofer out and inspect around it, but just wanted to put that up so I can get some more ideas generating.

Anything coming to mind here to check?

It's got nothing to do with your baffle. It's either clipping or the woofer bottoming out. You're overdriving your speaker, just back off of it a bit.

Gain was set with a DMM. It's supposed to be output @ 54.7 Volts but dialed in to 52 volts, and the subwoofer level on the h/u is 10/15, but set using 12/15.

Looked inside, pushed on the woofer, checked everything and nothing seems out of the ordinary.

Here's a picture of the wiring & box. It's possible the wires were touching in there, but I doubt it. It just makes a very loud boom.

Wait it makes a boom? lol its a SUB. i couldnt see the problem?! you push on it that hard and ya its gonna do that. put it back in and turn your stuffs down a bit. Maybe a SSF? box is awful low.
