Hmm. The pulley going bad would've slowly caused the belt to lose tension, which in turn most likely caused the belt to slip on the alternator somewhat, resulting in gradually reduced electrical output.

Hmm. The pulley going bad would've slowly caused the belt to lose tension, which in turn most likely caused the belt to slip on the alternator somewhat, resulting in gradually reduced electrical output and failure of your belt due to lack of tension.

well i haven't seen the true damage to the pulley yet since i havent had time all day. The guy who towed my car said that the rubber inside the pulley might've broken off due to wear (160,xxx miles). idk if he was just talking out of his *** or not though.
BTW, its the pulley that's attached to the motor, and the serpentine belt goes around that, the alt, and the starter (i think, lol). I know the belt was tight before that happened.

The only reason i think it's my battery dying instead of my alt is because I put in a brand new alt like 5 months ago. And also because even with the stereo turned off, it looked like it was having trouble rolling up the windows, lol, didnt have that before.

EDIT: I'm gonna do the big 3 once i can get some money. School ftl.

OK, once my alt failed i didnt buy a brand new one. I took it to a place to get it fixed and they put in all new parts in.

ok, i fixed the crank pulley and my car works again just like it did before. I can run my system full blast without it cutting off. I guess the battery just wasnt being charged fast enough or something...
