Bad alternator whine in Mazda3

I had a local shop install a blaupunkt amp, alpine coax's, and a pac interface to keep the factory head unit in my mazca 3. I get terrible alternator whine with the stereo turned off or on. When I unplug the RCA's the sound goes away. The ground on the amp is good. I cannot locate where the shop installed the line level converter but it must be the problem. Any suggestions/ ideas?

You for sure have a grounding issue on the RCAs or line level converter. You are just going to have to dig to find it. Shouldn't be that hard if you just follow the RCAs from the amp back to the line level converter.

why don't you take it back to the shop and say you didn't ground something right?
I'm not sure I would take my car back to a shop that does shitty work. I would pay another shop to fix it before letting some dumb fuck touch it again. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Yea the shop sucks. It took 3 trips back to the shop to even get the **** thing working. They connections on the amp were shitty, the wires were not trimmed, etc. I can't find the **** loc converter. I bet they did not ground the loc.
