bad alpine 9830?????????

Here's the deal. I bought a new 9830 left over from a local dealer and installed it this past saturday. Nothing fancy. Comp's in the doors and sub in back. All running off Kicker 650.4 amp.

Got the HU in and powered it up and everything was good. I started tweaking the XO's and EQ settings etc. and then right in the middle of adjustment sound went dead. Display and power was on but no sound. so i turn the power off and back on, same thing. tried tuner and cd mode.....nothing. display was showing elapsed time on disk and track info but no sound.

I removed the face plate and put it back on still nothing. then i decided to reset it and everything was cool. until i started making adjustments again. sound went dead again just like before. i reset the HU again and all was good. decided not to mess with anything and leave it.

On sunday i had everything adjusted perfect.....if that's possible. got in the truck yesterday morning and it sounded sweet. got back in the truck last night and all i had was SUB playing.......no sound from speakers. did all the above listed troubleshooting but ultimately had to reset the unit.........AGAIN.

any one have any suggestions before I uninstall and take it back to dealer and tell him where to put it........LOL
