Audiopipe Surprise! WOW!

this is gut shots of a Audiopipe GM-1502. rated to do 150x2 or 450x1. Well it's been sitting around for a long *** time and i figured i would play around with it. Turns out this is a very well built amplifier , sounds amazing and upon inspection of the IRF brand fets (IRFZ44's in the PSU , and tip35c/tip36c in the output section) i bet it does every bit of its rated power. I don't have the equipment to bench a amp but i listened to this on my doors today and it is definetly my top choice out of the 4 available amps i had to use on my doors. (bostwick MA-250zx , orion cobalt 260 , pioneer gm-5300T) this amp really impressed me , i still don't believe its a audiopipe amp. LOL

nope. its actually very well built and packed with high quality parts. notice how if you draw an invisible line through the center it looks like a mirror image? thats because the entire left channel amp and right channel amp are completely seperate from each other. Not a bad amp at all. Here is a vid of it pushing one of my doors (the other door wasn't finished yet , LOL) 5fe93423.mp4 video by stanky1219 - Photobucket

Thats interesting. Still dont wanna run their mono blocks tho.
why? they're solid, especially for the price. been running my 3500.1 on music cruising around at 0.5 ohms

Yea, they are ugly as all hell! Christ! It's like the go out of their way to make the amps ugly, to justify the low price.
they're definitely not out to win any beauty contests

Most Chinese/Korean amps are very pretty inside. They look very neat and tidy yet some of the locations of the componentry doesn't make any sense except if the board design put a priority on how it looked.

Your remarks on how the left and right channels are separate isn't anything new or special. It's an old Fosgate design and I'd imagine 9 out of 10 Class A/B amps on the market today are based on that original 1970's Fosgate design. What's surprising is that it has a regulated power supply. Those usually cost a bit more than their cheaper unregulated brethren. However that's not to say an unregulated amp is cheap...the good ones cost quite a bit more than regulated amps.

Everything looks kinda standard...which isn't a bad thing. It's not at all uncommon to see daughter boards used extensively to get the foot print of the amp as small as possible. That can be a bad thing as that's done at the expense of surface area...seems like your amp has plenty of that.

If you get a boner while looking at the guts of an amp, don't be ashamed - embrace it!, see if you can find some pics of old Linear Power or the hand-made Japanese a/d/s amps. Metal cased transistors, hand wiring everywhere, blatant disregard for protection circuitry...my gawd they're beautiful.
