Audiopipe APSM-1500 Protection for a few seconds?

I haven't read through the whole thread so I don't know if it's been suggested yet, but use a DMM and make sure the resistance of the voice coils are what they're meant to be. If they've been damaged and are lower than what they should be it could push the amp to run at a lower impedance.

They are wired at 2 ohms. Idk I think it may be time to exchange the amp for a new one. I'll just say it has some kind of protection bug.. Which it does lol.

did you get that by checking with a DMM? make sure the voice coils are the resistance they're supposed to be.

So that means what he's talkin about I'm fine on?
should be. but you can put a dmm on "ohms" and hook up to to your speaker wires to find out. should read 1, or close to it, for each of voice coils. you put the + and - lead to the corresponding + and - wire coming off each voice coil, since you can't actually get in your enclosure and put them up to the terminals on the sub right now. it should read close to 2 if you disconnect the wire them from your amp and test the ends that would go on on it. I, personally, do not think it's your sub. Did you try turning your gain down? I still think its something simple. Something not wired correctly some where.

Can I get some Cliffs on this so I can see if I can help at all?
He got everything that was initially wrong, sorted out just fine. His car does fine when he's idling in the parking lot. He can bump all day no problems, but when he starts driving around, the amp will sporadically kick into protect. He's checked the connections time and time again, can you think of anything else it might be?

I had a update on the last page, it goes into protect in idle now and I redid the connections to the amp. And it protected on a measly 15 hu volume. I think it's time to try and exchange it what do you think?

I mean the gains on like 25% it's not worth having a amp if I have to turn it down more because I won't be able to hear it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

At this point man.... yea. Try and swap it out. Sometimes it's just a bad amp, it happens. If the company is any good, they'll accept responsibility and get you a new one.

Alright so after weeks of returning of this stupid amp I got the new one today.

I got it all hooked up just like the last, and it won't work.

Glad I was watching when I turned it on because I might have missed it, my only clue.

When the car turned on, the amps protect light went on, then right after that the blue power light came on, then both went off. Now neither will turn on. I've cranked it 2-4 times and still won't show up. The sub isn't moving and there seems to be no signs of the amp being on even. I put my stats where they should be on my HU just like the last. UUUUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHHH

Any ideas? FML

Edit: All connections are good, and I kept the fuse from the last amp, and it's still good on my power wire.

wow.

I did not read the whole thread, but there is definitely a serious problem. Have you traced the remote turn on wire to verify it is properly connected and not being pinched somewhere and being grounded intermittently? Try disconnecting the remote wire and using a long piece of wire, run from the battery + to the remote connection on the amp. The amp should power up normally like this until you disconnect it again.

Well the other amp had problems, and I returned it and just got a new one today. That's the thread in summary lol.

I'm going to go and cut some more rubber off the remote wire and reconnect it to the amp, but there's no way it's getting grounded.
