Okay, I know very little about tweaking an amp and subwoofer, so I hope you all can tell me how to adjust the amp.

The subwoofer is a Kenwood 8" in a sealed box. The box is probably a little smaller than the recommended cubic feet, I've stuffed it with polyfill to help that, but keep that in mind.

max power: 600W

4 ohm voice coil

frequency response: 40 - 50 Hz

free air resonance: 43 Hz

sensitivity: 78 dB

peak input power: 600W

rated input power: 150W

The amplifier is a RF R250-1D.

rated power: 125x1 @ 4 ohms

crossover slope: 12db/oct

crossover frequency: 50Hz - 250Hz

frequency response: 20Hz - 250Hz

This amp comes with a wired 'punch level control' which I believe will let me control the gain how I like.

What should I set the gain on the amp at? 1 - 11?

What should I set the 'Punch Bass' control on the amp at? min - max

What should I set the Phase Switch on the amp at? 0 degrees - 180 degrees

What should I set the Variable Crossover on the amp at? 50 Hz - 250 Hz

I'm looking for sound quality first, not so much loud-*** bass. The sub is literally going to be right next to me.

Thank you in advance for any help!

Set the "Punch Bass" to the minimum setting, this is the bass boost most likely and won't be needed.

To the left of that you will see the Low Pass Frequency. Set this at 60Hz, 80Hz and 100Hz and see which one you like the best and leave it at that setting. Whichever frequency you pick, it allows that frequency and lower to be played through the subwoofer.

Leave the phase switch at 0.

Then you will see the gain level. Please read this link and follow the instructions to properly set this level.

If you have any questions let me know. Also if you are going to use the below item with your amplifier let me know so I can tell you how to set that up.

thanks for the replies,

yes, i will be using the remote 'punch level control', i just mounted it today (nothing is hooked up yet though). What is the optimal way to use the gain level on the amp and the punch level control?

thanks again, i realize some of my questions probably seem silly

One other question on the speaker wire input the amp:

I'm only using one sub, so I want to wire it according the installation manual's 'Bridged' diagram?

Ok, plug in the punch level controller and have it set to the maximum value, then after you have done that follow the steps in the link I provided to set the gain on the amplifier. Basically if you have a bass heavy song and you want to decrease the bass, you can just turn down the knob for the punch level controller instead of going through the menus in your head unit and lowering the bass level that way.

Yes sir
