So I was searching on ebay for digital designs, and I read this one auction for some 12" audio que hd-12s, and the seller was comparing them to digital designs saying there made a lil cheaper.

I went to their site http://www.audioque.com and seemed like this company is almost trying to copy DD but with alot cheaper prices.

Has anyone ever heard of these, or know anything else about them as if they are decent?

yes I emailed them asking a few questions, and I actully got an email back on a saturday morning WOW.. I thought something was going on because their websites lay outs where quite the same.

This was what is wrote to me

Brian:

The HD12 is made in dual2 and dual four only. That’s how we keep the price down. For your information the subs on ebay are being sold by Justin Whitty. Those subs were originally purchased by Mike Blanchfield for the 2003 dbdrag season. Mike ran those subs in Street “C”. He held the MO state title (154.8) and placed 3rd at dbdrag finals (155.4) in 2003. He used the same subs at USACI finals at Kansas City MO in 2003 placing first in the Prostock 1001-5000 class and also set a new record on the B&K mic. Mike had over 400 full tilt burps on the subs with a MOJO on each sub. Mike sold the subs to one of his friends who used them for most of 2004. The friend sold them to Justin at the 2004 USACI finals. The subs have never been reconed.

I have followed the history of those subs knowing the extreme abuse they have had just to see how much they would take. They have at least 450-500 full power burps on them by now. Mike told me they were down about ½ db when he sold them. The fact that they are still in reasonably good shape is amazing.

The list price of the HD12 from Audioque is $249 plus shipping.

Two cars at USACI 2004 finals ran HD15’s and placed first and second in their class. Ed Bausman (Big Ed) had a score of 160.1 in prostock 1001-5000 for 2nd place and Terry Schaffer took first place in Stock 301-900 with a score of 155.2. Ed was running a Zapco 9.0 on each sub.

The HD series was designed for extreme abuse primarily for daily drivers who like loud cars with good sound quality. The subs are very efficient and work great with 500-2000 plus watts per sub. They are designed for ported boxes. The subs are hand built at our family owned buildhouse (resonance) at Oklahoma City. The subs were designed by my son Jassa Langford the Owner of Digital Designs. We sell the Audioque subs only via the internet and eliminate all marketing and distribution costs. We use only the very best American parts when we can and we machine our own motors. We do not use off the shelf parts.

Hope this answers some of your questions.

DJ Langford, owner Audioque

PS thanks for the help guys, I wasnt respecting a email reply from them so soon.

I've broken all kinds of woofers, including RE woofers...

I like many manufactures (some include JBL, Adire,RE,Harman Kardon, Crown, I like some image dynamics stuff..Dynaudio..many pro sound drivers i also like some of the anaba amplifiers amongst many other things) the remaining drivers/amplifiers that i like you probably have never heard of..and a lot of what i do have i've built myself or designed myself -

RE and IA..have products that i believe in, they stand behind their products and you don't get screwed on reconing a woofer if you do kill it. Both manufactures have new and innovative ideas, and use quality products.

If you don't like what i think then tough shit, i'm not holding a gun to your head making you read what i have to say...when you have tested as many drivers as i have and start understanding what is good and what isn't you may understand why i am so picky about what i like...if you don't think i should have an opinion on various woofers/products tough...btw..WTF is your problem? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/popcorn.gif.32dd9e22fd77e77bc3c907062768fcd2.gif

My name is DJ Langford, I am the owner of Audioque and this is my first post. As a general rule I do not post on the forums but feel I must reply to NDMustang 65's statement that he has "seen many Audioque subs launch on the first burp".

I have no problem with his SPAMING on the forums; he has to live with that. I do have a problem with his outright lies. I don't think he has ever laid eyes on an Audioque HD much less seen one launch on the first burp. The truth of the matter is we track all of our subs by serial number and end user. To date I have not received a single complaint regarding a failure of the Audioque HD and believe me we would have heard about it in an instant.

Perhaps he can provide me with names, dates and places of those many failures he has seen. If not he should look up the legal term applied to those who play with the truth in the written form.

No DJ, i did NOT say that audioque subs launch of the first burp

I did however say that i've seen Resonance/ DD subs launch on the first burp.

Ever put a woofer in an environment that does 170.9dB at 62Hz? I've only seen a hand full of woofers survive this environment, sadly the 9515 wasn't one of them. Seeing as how you do use the same soft parts i'm assuming that the outcome would be the same.

Good day sir

Nick

actually you didn't specify any brand but since this thread is about his brand of sub--it seems to me as if you're talking about audioque
possibly so - I was under the assumption that if it is indeed owned by the same parent company / build house as DD that it would be assumed that ALL drivers built from there that happen do use the same soft part arrangement would have the same outcome/results....

but whatever...
