i have recently bought a tft screen. installation has gone fine apart from i have tried 2 connect the audio output 2 my head unit at the bus input connectors. By the way I have a Sony head unit

i have looked at my instructions and it appears that the head unit needs 2 think that it is connected 2 a cd changer for it 2 recognise that it has another audio input.

ne ideas mucho appreciated

cheers!!

Here's an idea...use "to" instead of "2". //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Sorry, morning sarcasm already kicking in and I have no useful info other than sometimes you need a special bus adapter like what Pioneer and Kenwood use to get the head unit to recognize the auxiliary input.

Yup, you need an XA-series aux input box. Check Ebay. You can just get an older XA-30 which typically goes around $30-40. I use a newer XA-300 which is basically the same thing as the XA-30 but it also has a USB hook-up which allows you to connect it to a laptop/carputer to pipe the audio in from it. Got mine for under $80, but it's more than what you need for what you're doing. There's also another one like an XA-15 that only has one input which you may be able to find cheap as well (the others have 3 inputs).

which sony head unit is it? most of the lower sony's dont' have an aux-in but just a bus-in for use with a changer... but there is an adapter out there... be prepared 2 pay money tho..

i have got a CDX-F5500 not the best but its only a couple of months old

You're not looking very hard...I found an XA-300 on Ebay right after I replied. Try searching on sony xa. You'll get a bunch of other stuff like disc changer cartridges, but you'll also find the aux-in boxes.

Also, there's a site out there with DIY info for making your own aux-in adapter. If you can solder components to a circuit board or know someone who has the skills, you can go that route. I'll see if I can locate it if it's up your alley.

also btw i assume that i don’t need a CD changer to operate the XA-107
That's correct. The xa-107/300 hooks up to the CD changer connections on the head unit and the head unit recognizes it and allows control of it via the unilink cable. The units have the provisions for attaching a CD changer to them so that you'd still have the capability to run one, but you don't have to have one.

so gutted today i went into my local car audio shop and asked if they could solve my problem. and for an expensive £35 $70 they offered me a pc7-100 from autoleads. i decided 2 plug it in when i was outside the shop and guess what it didn't work. :-(

it was the first one they have sold as they said they are new out anyway if your interested here is the link 2 one:
