Atomic apx with 4" coils?

Well if you gonna get another 3500 stick to the aqs for now they should take 3500 on music..Depending on how low you gonna keep it tuned you might be better off with a larger box and more port area to make it peak harder around tuning if thats what your going after..

I'm about 99% positive your gonna peak in the high 40 to low 50hz range..

Play with you tuning just a bit, try 36 see how you like it they will still have some killer low end and should give you a boticable gain closer to the cars res frequency..
Youre saying to use a big enclosure if I was to run two sundown saz-3500's? on those aq's?

Also, Im an idiot. I thought that "Vas" was the sub displacement which it wasnt. So the enclosure that theyre in which I thought was 5.2 net and tuned to around 34 hz is inocorrect. Its probably sitting around 5.8 net and tuned to 33 hz, as the subs are also on a double baffle as well. Thats a pretty big enclosure and extremely already over sized. The subs are liking it though. lol

Im going to build a new enclosure though once I get the second amp. Ill tune it to 36 like you said and that was my original plan as well.

The suspensions are so **** stiff thier capable of utilizing the larger box and port area to peak hard around tuning..

You have to find that medium with box size port area and the woofer remaining linear..

2.5 pr woof is big but if it's peaking hard and falling off very fast you know your approaching there limit as far as dampening..

Yea ur box is abit huge but it should work nicely..

Vas is compliance of the speaker..

They have a low qes so you can use a smaller box but your going to give a lot of low end up..

I'm not to sure how well they really do tuned that low, I'm guessing once you start tuning up its going to get really peaky..

worth upgrading from the aq hdc4's?
For continuous handling 3500W each, 4" coil will take it much better. Doubt they'll be as efficient. LV6, T3 TSNS, TRF, other 4hp clones/variants are all solid performers, but 4" coil is a good bit of extra moving mass so they're almost never as efficient (all things being equal) as a comparable 3" coil driver.

Yeah, the 4" coil won't get you any louder, you'll just not be frying voice coils as quick.
^^^^^ This

Having a 4" coil pretty much means it can handle more long term. My friend was the one that recommended me getting that one though. Im currently tuned to 33-34 hz with my two 12" aq hdc4's. Im doing a 151.6 with those subs off music on a single saz-3500. Im also planning on getting a dc 270 amp alt once I get the second sundown saz-3500.
My goal is to have a loud daily trunk car doing at least 153-155 off music with a low tuning.
53 is probably doable, higher will require extreme deadening to reduce panel flex, walling, or tuning much higher I suspect.

55 on music would make you the loudest music trunk on the planet that I know of. Good luck with that.
And FWIW... my vote is Atomic APXX or RD Super HeavyWeight.

Then ill break that record. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Nah, but I do want to have a very loud trunk car. Im still thinking about those atomics though.

I dont really wanna lose my low end. Theyre doing amazing and sound good too.. In the enclosure theyre in now, theyre not peaking very high. I pretty much have lots of low end but thats how I like it. I could probably tune it to 36 hz with a new enclosure so Ill get more of everything.

He has videos, lmfaoif you running 7 kw off a single amp your killing you electrical system..

7k@80% efficiency that's around 9000 watts of draw on the alt/batteries

P/V=I

P= power in watts

9000/14=642 amps of draw.

If you have a 300 amp alt your batteries have to discharge 340 amps.

I didn't say it's not possible but your gonna damage the equipment..

What does your voltage drop to?

Main reason you get away with it because music is dynamic.

My rs 1750.1s do about 3900 @1 ohm strapped with 2 2400s and a stock alt but it drops to 12 volts..

I measured around 360 on lil John-throw it up..

I could play it all day but eventually the alt/batteries breakdown..

Windings get too hot etc etc...
*sigh* tl;dr

I used to be like you... crunching numbers and thinking too hard. Then I started hooking things up and playing in the real world and all that **** went out the window.

ive been installing for 15 years competed..

sound fundamentals= key to install..

ive been doing electrical for nearly 12 years dealing with complex electronics..

if you have a good idea of what you need its not hard to accomplish your goals..

the facts are there im just trying to inform people so they stop burning equipment..

The largest gains come from acoustic coupling and finding resonant frequency, the woofers are usually the last factor I'd consider..

Then and only then once you have your placement, res freq, proper loading techniques, box shape and size then you choose a woofer that's going to be ideal for the install..

You already have good woofers tuning up a bit and adding more power will get you close..
