Atomic apx with 4" coils?

apx with a 4" coil will have the 856 motor, an apxx with a 4" coil will have the 1087 motor, such as mine... I havent put power to mine yet but it is one of the beefiest subs that I have ever seen, not to mention that the 1087 motor is one of the most powerful non neo motors out there... just go apxx 18 with 4 spiders and you will be very happy...

They do several different versions of the 3" and 4" coils in the APX/APXX, the 856 comes in either 3 or 4" coil versions, the 2 most common 4" coil versions of the APXX is the 1078, and 1087

The largest gains come from acoustic coupling and finding resonant frequency, the woofers are usually the last factor I'd consider..Then and only then once you have your placement, res freq, proper loading techniques, box shape and size then you choose a woofer that's going to be ideal for the install..

You already have good woofers tuning up a bit and adding more power will get you close..
Alright thanks, I guess I'll just rebuild the enclosure and see what happens

Oh he was telling me it's an apxx.. Do you think $1000 is a good price for two atomic 12's with the 856 motors and 4" coils? I might just keep the hdc4's.

I think you have a good thing going, but make sure the port is flush with the trunk if it sticks out they might throw u in Ss 1-2 half wall or what ever it is now n days.
I might just put that port on the side of the enclosure on the new one Im going to build. Im tired of being louder with the trunk open, and its too much pain to get it just right with the foaming. So Ill just go with the subs firing forward and the port firing to the driver side.

they would prolly handle quite a bit more power but that would be the only advantage... just stick with your aq's...
