At what point is 1/0 necessary?

I am just really curios if i need to do 1/0 install.

I don't plan on going over total of 700watt rms at any give time.

it's a two small amp set up. what u guys think? i just want your honest opinion.

it's just that 1/0 wires costs more and stuff and if i don't really need it i don't want to do it.

as i have always felt it will never hurt to over kill on your wire size, but for the power you are looking at 4g should do what you need, but if you do decide to go bigger remember that you will want to do the big 3 in 1/0 and the same with the power wire, so in the long run if you upgrade again it can be cheaper to do it in the 1/0 the first time, but you dont truly need it.

ok. yeah, my friend here on this site told me the same thing. i just wanted to hear some more thoughts. It appears big three is a must if i want to seriously get into car stereo?

so according to that WIRE provided program, unless i go over around 1000 rms, 1/0 is unnecessary?
more like 125 amp draw which at 12.5v is 1562watts rms

and the next step would be 2 gauge which is good to 200amp

This also depends on the length of the wire, above is for less than 15'

pretty good answers for the op. our economy is not so good now and people are trying to watch what they spend money on wire is expensive and too offten people on these forums tell others that they need stuff that they dont really need.

at worst do the big three in 1/0 its like 2 bucks a foot for cca. then do a run of 4gauge to the back. I usually do that when im less than 1k. if you go over 1k id suggest a second battery and at that point youll need 1/0 to the back anyway.
