Arrrrffffing bluetooth

So sometime in June both my HU and my wife's HU, decided they consistently want to hook up to the other's phone. Dropped my wife off to get a tire repaired. As I'm following her home, my phone is connecting to her HU as she's driving down the road. I'm lucky if my bluetooth headset connects to the phone in my pocket, but driving down the road my bluetooth range somehow increases to 30 yards. Everytime she gets into my car the HU wants to swap over to her phone - annoying as pluck. /[rant]

Did you ever link your BT to her car? I did it once with my friends car and when she would stop by, my phone would get the request even though I had erased it on my phone. You have to erase the link from the radio.
That's the thing, we do drive each other's cars on occasion. We've had both of our phones hooked up to each other's radios for years and never had these issues until June of this year. Seriously why (and how) is my phone hooking up to my wife's car from 20-30 yards away, when it disconnects at ~20 feet in my house? And why isn't it hooking up to the radio that it's literally inches away from?

I assume a phone update. It's weird that my phone seems to be the "primary" when we're in her car and vice-versa.
I would love the kind of update that would extend your BT range to 20+ yards. I can not think of a single random action that would swap your phone's BT priority in the radios. I say re-set them and see what happens.

I was surprised my phone remained hooked up to her car as we drove down the road. I'm sure she enjoyed listening to my podcasts. :ROFLMAO: Somehow my phone is connected to her car with a good 30 yards between us, but has a hard time staying connected to a bluetooth headset while it's in my pocket.

Software and firmware updates can drive ya batty. Two sets of earbuds that now do not turn off when put int he case nor turn on when pulled from the case. Cannot connect to a phone 1 foot away, but the phone is grabbing the neighbor's soundbar 100 feet away; dedicated music phone connecting to my 2nd set of earbuds (which are in the case charging in my kitchen) while I'm 200 feet away mowing - and refusing to play through the 'buds I am wearing even though it says connected to two devices; Windows refusing to connect to the earbuds as headphones, or connecting but then refusing to allow volume adjustments anywhere.

How are we "advancing" when things are becoming so much more of a pain in the *** to use?
Remember popping in a cassette and hitting play, and instant tunes? FFS, it takes 2 minutes just to boot up a phone or music player, then load the app, then connect the bluetooth earbuds, only to be told 15 minutes later that one of them wasn't actually charging in the case....

So it is not an isolated incident. Do you remember freeze frames with analog tv channels? Me neither.
LOL
My VCR didn't take 5 minutes to load a tape, and my cellphone used to work until it was 99% static, and 1% person on the other end. Now it simply goes to dead air.

I visited a relative a while and was shocked when the audio went out of sync with the video on their CABLE TV that is not on-demand. I expect it very occasionally from my setup (100% streaming over WiFi), but not from "live" cable.

Too many examples.

I had a similar situation a couple days ago. Big bbq at my house, 50 or more people at any given time. I have the music cranked through the bt stereo and all of a sudden it stops. I look at my phone and it's still playing so I look at the Bluetooth icon and it's paired to my truck that my friend had to move. He turned the truck off, I connected to the home stereo again. Then he turned the truck on for another second to roll up the windows and it switches to the truck again.

This is a s10 btw. You have android or Apple?

My phone is an android, hers is an apple.

The last Windows update wrecked havoc with my bluetooth connection on my work computer. Only when I'm using Teams, so I have no way of knowing what will happen until I'm in an actual meeting and can't hear/talk and have to restart Teams, disconnect/reconnect my headphones, etc until something works. Should be great for my presentation this week. Best part is the wired connection doesn't work anymore either, so my back plan is gone too. Yeah technology.
