Are these speakers worth it?

The crossover that comes with the comps does the job of seperating frequencies. They keep everything where it belongs. Find a good place to mount your tweeters. maybe pm iamamp3pimp and ask his advice on that since he has the same car.

The one you posted will work, but the Alpine he suggested is much better. Plus if you decide to upgrade your sub amp you can get an Alpine PDX mono amp and stack it on top of the small two channel amp and save a lot of room.

You can try it without the big 3, there's no way to know if it'll be okay or not until you get it installed.

It doesn't matter how many "channels" a speaker has. 3 way speakers usually have a mid and 2 tweeters on each side instead of just a mid and 1 tweeter. One tweeter per side is plenty.

The Pioneers would be 2 way, they just don't say so.

The Raammat should greatly decrease the rattles, but even low power subs like you have are going to cause a little bit of rattling no matter what you do.

i think there is a mount area already installed on my neon

there are 2 small speakers on the front dash next to the windshield... are those the tweeters?

and are these worth the 100 bucks over the pioneers?

I want to get the 4 speakers for sure... that way i dont have to upgrade later...
the stock back speakers are blown and sound like crap

but you say I should just go with the stock battery for now? or did you mean with only 2 speakers.

My advice: take a step back from what you think that you need/want.

Some of the advice you are getting here is going to save you some money and result in a much better system.

but then id have to get a brand new amp to run 4way... that would kill my budget

can i get a 4 way amp for the 2 speakers? for now?

btw im gettin a new battery to go with my car.

a yellow cap gel battery

so getting 4 speakers wont hurt it...

are back speakers charged by HU just as good as an amp one?

read this

http://www.termpro.com/articles/rearfill.html

it describes how having rear fill helps to make the sound more natural... this true?

Ok, here goes.

The guys you talked to appear to focus mostly on SPL. If they have won competitions, I'm sure it's for the show cars, not for sound quality.

If, later on, you decide you want some rear fill, you do not need another amp. head unit power will be more than adequate (HUs usually put out about 18-25w RMS, which is twice what your stockers are getting)

The Alpine Type X Pro comps are very nice speakers, but I don't think you would notice much of a difference, and at least not enough to warrant the extra cost. The Pioneers are VERY nice for the price. I'm actually surprised they can be had so cheap based on all the reviews I've heard.

You can find a lot of good amps for less than the Alpine. However, the Alpine is good for a couple things. It is awesomely compact, and it puts out full power across all impedences. Plus, if you decide to upgrade your substage, the 1000w mono amp comes in the same size, is stackable, and also puts out full power across all impedences. Kind of like the JL Audio slash series, only smaller, cheaper, and better looking.

However, if you find a cheaper amp that you like more and it still does the job, by all means buy it. I only suggested the Alpine because I have heard such great reviews on that line.

If you're interested, I have a small Eclipse 2-channel that does 50w x 2 at 4 ohms. It is brand new in box, and I'd be willing to let it go $75 shipped

I prefer the tweeters up high in the door or sail panel if you've got a flat enough surface to mount them, but that requires drilling a hole for them. It's well worth it in my opinion though because I believe it sounds much better.

The Type X comps are good but I'd rather have the Pioneers.

I just had a conversation with Team Nutz (http://www.teamnutztechnology.com/) about the 2 speaker front being better than the 4 and they told me to get the 4 and id be more happy. They won many competitions and are known world-wide. Why would they say this?
If I had to get 2 back speakers, what would go good with the Pioneers?

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17068

and what would be a good amp to buy with both? Sorry for the confusion.
The issue of rear fill or no rear fill is a highly debated topic. You're going to find a lot of people that argue each side. The majority of people seem to prefer it without rear fill, myself included. As we already said, if you decide you want rear speakers just get a set of coaxials and power them off the head unit.

Ok... thanks guys! I am going to go with your advice and get the 2 Pioneers, the amp you suggested, and the RAMAT.

Thanks for everything guys! I'm going to put the people who really helped me the most in my sig section and you can be sure that I'll be around here daily to learn from the best. You guys rock! I'll post pictures of my setup when it is completed in a few weeks.

I may have some more questions about this system down the line, so I'll just continue on with this thread. Check back in a day or two, cause I might be getting some more things to include with the setup, like a good EQ dash unit or something.
