Are 8's the new 12's?

Hi guys! Do you remember me? I started this thread. Yeah, ummm....really I just wanted input on everyones feelings of 8's being today's 12's because of new designs etc.
I'm glad that the two of you are the masters of your own universe though, congrats on that.

If possible, do you think we could just go back to people's opinions or knowledge of what would be lacking in having only 8's or what would be better? I could start another thread called "i'm kind SH*T and this is why" and you two could go crazy in there. Its just getting too hard to actually get information from this thread that I was actually looking for.
Message received, I'll stop. And my apologies for my contribution to what your thread has become.

I guess when both parties are asking the other why they are still talking, its only come down to squabbling. ebanender can get his last few misinterpretations in if he wants, I dont see him stopping any other way at this point. I'll step up to the plate, admit I was wrong, and move on. This wont ever stop otherwise.

Good day to everyone reading this.

Can someone explain a "clamshell" box? I've seen a bunch of things on the world wide wibble about putting 8's in a clamshell. I think thats what these kids had for a 6.5 or a pair of them. Was LOUD.

Believe me, I understand. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Sorry again, and good luck to you with your system.

(I found this late so please let me sneak this in regarding the previous discussion!)

audioholic, the point is, Fs is what it is because the manufacturers can make it whatever they want when they design the sub! Thats right, by adjusting MASS of the cone or stiffness of the suspension, the free air resonance can be...whatever the designer wants!

Cone area is a third variable for determining Fs. But the fact there are 2 others that can totally influence the Fs one way or the other means cone area alone doesn't mean squat.

kk?

pioneer has new shallows. i hear they got nice bump. seem kinda pricy though. and i never heard of a clamshell bow before. i have heard of the death box before though. i heard that thing gets some crazy lows and loud as hell. my friend built a death box for his 10in type r and that thing was louder than most setups i have heard with 2 type r 12's. he covered the inside of his death box with dynamt to help with sound waves or something
