I just got my box built for my my maw 15 sub it's around 2.4 cubic feet (sealed) and I got my memphis pr600 amp powering it. The specs on the amp are 250x2 @ 2 ohms so I think it should be 500 rms bridged. And I have this sub bridged. On some really low bass the sub starts to make like popping type noises...I can't even explain it. But it don't sound right and something is happening. and it only happens on some really low bass hits. any ideas...?

well, if the sub is dual 4 ohm voice coils you can only wire to 2 or 8 ohms.

if that amp does 250Wx2 @ 2 ohms, it would need a bridged 4 ohm load! (to do approx 500W)

as for the popping noise, i'm not quite sure.

oh and yes...please specify what coils u havE? I think all the subs on that line are d4......so your not wired right for one, thats if im right about the coils.

woah...wait. I have whatever coils come with the sub.

Power Handling: 500 Watts

SPL (2.83v/1m): 90.2 db

Impedence: 4 + 4 Ohm

T/S parameters (with coils wired in series):

Fs = 26 Hz

Re = 8 Ohms

Qt = 0.32

Qes = 0.35

Qms = 3.35

Mms = 232.8 grams

Rms = 11.42 kg/s

Cms = 0.000159 m/N

Vas = 129 liters

Sd= 756.3 cm2

Xmax = 13 mm

Diameter = 31.1 cm

Dimensions

Outside Diameter: 39.4cm (15 1/2")

Mounting Diameter: 35.6cm (14")

Depth: 16.8cm (6 5/8")

probably tensil slap....
try some foam tape on the under side of the cone above the tinsel leads on both sides.

it's impossible for it to be tensil slap..the tensils are exactly like alpine type r tensils...the tensils are woven to the spider.

ok...another thing how do i wire it right? they are dual 4 ohm coils and my amp is bridged.

OH MY GOSH....That could have been bad. my amp isn't mono 2 ohm stable only 4 ohm stable at mono!!!....jeesh i coulda ruined my shiz. Now another question...

If i bridged my dual 4 ohm sub to my 4 ohm stable amp i would have to wire my sub for an 8 ohm load. so would my sub get more power wired bridged at 8 ohms or just wired on the left channel of my amp getting a 2 ohm load?

i dont know how two channel amps work as its pretty much inferior with todays market prices for mono channel amps.....but you need a 2 ohm load, or 8 ohm load. higher number load, = less power.

alright but....do you think i'm going to hurt my amp by only having the my sub hooked into one channel and not using the other channel? Atleast that way I can get a 2 ohm load. I am going to try and find a mono channel 2 ohm stable amp asap but for now i'll run my sub off the left channel of the amp if its not going to hurt it.

2 ohms into 1 of the channels = 250W x 1

4 ohms into each channel = 125W x 2

8 ohms bridged = 250W x 1

you can't force the amp to give you more power //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

i would suggest bridging it at 8 ohms.

then each coil will see the same signal and most amps will be slightly more efficient on higher load.

well either way i don't want 250 watts powering my sub I'm going to sell the memphis...actually it's already on ebay. and i'm buying a PHOENIX GOLD Octane R 8.0:1 Mono Amp

Brand: Phoenix Gold

Condition: New

RMS Power Output: 400W x 1 @ 2 Ohm

Peak Power Output: 800W x 1 @ 2 Ohm

Signal To Noise Ratio: 110dB

Frequency Response: 20Hz-20kHz

Built-In Crossovers: Variable 18dB

THD @ 4 Ohm RMS Power: 1%

Ohm Load Stability: 2 Ohm

OR the phoenix gold R 15.0.1

Specifications :

500W x 1 @ 4 ohms rms

1000W x 1 @ 2 ohms rms

1500W x 1 (2 ohm mono) max power

Fuse Rating: 2 x 40 amps

Frequency Response: 20-350 Hz

High efficiency Class "D" monoblock amplifier

18dB variable LP crossover

18dB variable subsonic filter

are these half decent amps?
