Are 8's the new 12's?

i may not own one now but i use to own a few 18's (pro audio)and built and design boxes for them...i know how low they get

80

my next ride i will be throwing 18's in it:up2somet:
lol i hope not in the car u have now..and u dont own any 18+ drivers

I was knocking on 140's door with this little 1008 and about 400 watts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Wow, what size box is that? I keep thinking about a box for my ID's and I not sure if I should go sealed or ported? I mean they will be on my transmission hump inbetween the front seats with my 12" idmax in the back, I dont know if it would even be worth it to install them if the idmax will over shadow them, what do you guys think?

That is a 1 cu ft box plus port...also tuned at 40hz....

go ported on a console box //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Yea Im leaning towards ported, I want to see how they do, Ive heard with moderate power they can get kind of loud but with some extra power they get nasty in the correct enclosure, now I need to get a hold of matt or eric and get me a box design . .

I was thinking of powering them with an arc audio 4150, how you think thatll do? It isnt a ton of power but its above the middle of the power rating

A 4150 I take it that that is 4 x 150 watts....If you bridge two of the ch's to a 1008a it should sound pretty good...that would leave the other two ch's to drive your front stage....

well if i remember correctly, if i bridged the channels into 4 ohms, it will output 320 x 2, which is enough i think, theyre efficient speakers so I dont need to kill them with power

Well, Id love to have a pair of the DD's, thinking of their woofers for my competition van next redo, but I already have a pair of the Image Dynamics ID 8's I bought awhile back, if I didnt already have them Id be interested in the DD's, thanks though, Ill keep it in mind

Its just that 8" technology is improving, so they can get loud and take up considerably less space...if I were to take a guess
i really hope youre not too serious... because loudspeaker technology seriously hasnt changed at all... it has remained nearly the same since they were first created.

we may have learned more about electronics, and how to manage the electronic influences, but there have been virtually no electronic advances in technology.
