AQ2200D not working?

Yeah put the DMM leads in the speaker terminals, red lead to positive and black lead to negative. Make sure the gains are turned down and when you have the leads in the right spots start to turn the gains up and see if the amp reads any AC voltage. I own 2 of these amps and they worked superbly and are very very powerful.

you do kno that your you put the neg probe on the outer ring and the positive on the center post ? play a 40-50hz test tone with the volume at max and you should get a good 4-5v or so

hes not gonna get any output from the amp if there isnt any input from the head unit thru the RCAs

If he wasn't getting a reading on the good amp then maybe he's hooking the probes up wrong.

Do we need to say make sure you have a cd or music playing while your checking with the dmm?

Good luck dude.

nah someone already said a test tone. music wouldnt really give a good reading

i think my dmm is kinda ghetto so im going to buy the cord that DBdesignselite posted. I'll just hook my ipod up to it and test the amp that way.

THANKS for all the help guys... really appreciate it.

O man .. Ill be hooking up my aq 2200 within the next day or so . Crossing my fingers . Hope you find out what it is .
Rule#1 when installing amps:

If you are unsure of how to install your amp STOP what you are doing and call the manufacturer for help or have a good shop install the amp. This will save you a lot of time and in some cases money. Nine times out of ten you are not going to solve your problem by asking for help on a forum but may end up doing some serious damage to your amp.

I would much rather spend a few minutes on the phone walking you through the install then have you damage the amp and be an unhappy customer. Problems are usually found to be improper installation.

If the remote gain control is turned counter clockwise your amp will not make power. The remote gain control and cliping indicator is also a gain turn down. It will allow you to turn the gain down regardless of the gain setting on the amp; it will not let you increase the gain higher then the gain set on the amp. If you forget to turn the remote gain knob up the amp will not make power.

Our amps receive a two hour "burn in" at the factory and we check each amp before shipping. The chances of you getting a non working amp are pretty slim. I am not saying it can't happen but it's very improbable.

If you take your amp to a install shop check out their reputation as best you can. I once had a shop tell my customer his new AQ1200D was defective and would not "make power". When we received the "defective" amp we found both filters turned to zero. We set the filters and the amp worked fine. I had one other case in which the master/slave switch was in the wrong position.
