AQ HDC4"s?????

8 layer I think, but a true 1500rms on music is close to 8k in amplifier power. add that to the fact it's Chinese and aq's don't have the greatest cooling in the world and I think a true clamped 1500 is pushing it

people like you **** me off, you know exactly what I mean when I say "1500w won't ever get that cone moving" I obviously mean an amplifier rated for 1500w wouldn't do jack shit to move that woofer. But you see it as an opportunity to wave your **** around.

Also, i agree that fs typically isn't the best indicator of low end response, but its hard to ignore the fact that it has such a high fs...

you mean people that make sure you can't spread ignorance around? If I wanted to show you up I would have brought up the fact that if one was so inclined you could make that sub bottom out on a 1500rms amplifier. Plenty of enclosure designs will make a driver move more than it would free air. I guess I shouldn't be surprised with a Gucci quote in your signature.

These extreme hypothetical situations you love to throw around are impractical and immature, they are what you substitute for constructive and productive conversation because you feel the need to say something.

also, how are you going to assume things about my intelligence from a 'quote' in my signature and try to pass yourself off as mature?

I'm siding with fourocho on this. Wenn du whatever, you took that out of context, and you know it. You knew exactly what he meant by 1500w rms. You may be right, but it doesn't prove anything. No one is going to look at a woofer's rating like that.

It doesn't matter if I knew what he meant or not. What matters is he said ''why would they rate a driver like that at 1500rms, when 1500 won't even move the cone."

The right answer would be: "they rate at true power, not amplifier power. Any responsible company will do this to insure they do not receive warranty claims from rated rms usage. No real company will rely on impedence rise, power compression, or music's dynamic properties to figure out their power rating. Companies such as audiobahn and pyle do that, I'm sure we all love those brands now don't we. Not every one who buys a subwoofer is an enthusiast, A ton of people get recommended audiogue as a cheaper substitute of digital designs. Those people will not know how to make sure their subwoofer is in a correct enclosure and is getting a clip free signal. Now take those people and rate the sub to where it would be for an enthusiast power rating and you will be getting a ton of returns and word of mouth spreading that your subs will not take the ''5k'' they are rated for.

Now which, at a business standpoint, sounds like the more reasonable idea?"

I just got lazy and shortened it down to what I said earlier, which like usual some one got their ******* in a bunch over it.

I'm not even going to respond to Fourocho's post as all it will do is add fuel to the fire.

I get what you are saying but you still should've said it differently //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

It's still lower than it should be IMO and I think it's because they don't want to warranty it early off while they perfect things. Don't get me wrong, I like AQ, but something just doesn't seem right.

DJ knows people are going to throw 2x3 times RMS at these subs, just like the HDC3's. So he tends to be conservative when rating them...

Still debating on grabbing one to throw in the daily ride.
