Apple Nano or Microsoft Zune 4gb?

Well I am still not very efficent on this technology to be honest with you as I am still buying CDs. Well I figured since me and my fiance are working out a lot as of late and we go a lot of places I would look into getting one of these. I got to keep the limit down below 150, so these are my options unless there is something else competitive, which I don't think there is.
My question is, what would be better as far as sound quailty and ease of use? This will be my first MP3 player. I know sad huh? Anyway, what would you pick and if you have one or the other what are your likes and dislikes? I am gonna be getting 1 or the other by tomorrow night more than likely.

Also do you know if either one connects to a Pioneer PRS-880?(Lost my stupid manual) Like I said, I am old school and still use CD's. Hell I hardly burn cd's and just go out and buy them at full price, eek!

Thanks for any info as this will be a joint gift for christmas, of course I am paying for it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif
The zune can run on the aux inputs which you would control songs on the zune and need to charge it. The ipod can run with the ipod adapter for the pioneer, which will charge the ipod and you can cpntrol the ipod on the screen, however it is somewhat slow.

So I have to control either device from the Ipod or Zune, not my deck? So that means I lose volume control from my deck as well? I am confizzled.

You can control the ipod from the deck, not the zune. The pioneer adapter is about $60 new for the ipod and it'll charge your ipod and allow you to control the ipod through the 880.

Yeah, that would be a no go! Over 200 smacks that way. I wanted to stay under 150. So if I get the zune how do I control that, all through the Zune? Also it will or will not charge if I have it hooked up via 3.5mm cord?

Umm thanks for the info, even though out of everybody around here, I would think you would be the last person to help me out.

for the time being you would control the song selection from the zune, but control the volume from the deck or if you are like me, from the steering wheel. I just set the zune volume high and then adjust it with the head unit.

I just keep my zune in the little pocket right under the head unit, it sticks out just enough to be able to easily control song selection without having to pick up the zune.

Since you basically have the same interior as me, this should work for you as well.

I would bet that there will be an adapter capable of controlling a zune sometime soon.

The zune has only been out like a year, it takes companies a while before they start making aftermarket accessories for something.

Remember the zune is a microsoft product and microsoft has a lot of money and has stated they are in it for the long term.

Eventually, the zune will pwn the ipod.

agreed. not because i know anything about the zune, but i absolutley hate itunes. any mp3/mp4 player that isn't shackled to itunes is a good thing.

I hear you Faulkton, but the only thing scarring me about the Zune overall is the software. Did you have any problems with the software? Thing is you are good with that kind of shit.

Do you have any instant messengers in case I run into a problem you could help a homeboy out? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i have had no problems with the software and from what i can tell the majority of the problems people are having with the software comes from having the old software installed and upgrading to the new software.

I never had the old software installed and had no problems installing or using the new software.

I dont use IM but use email.

So buying the zune will be new software correct? Cause I seen a review that some guy submitted through Amazon saying not to use the software that comes with the Zune, but the software off the website being it is new. So what should I use, the one that comes with the zune or the websites?

Also I have an xbox360, which even makes the zune a better buy for me. I was just afraid I would have to turn the volume up on the zune and would lose it on the deck, which I wouldn't want.

Thanks for all the info bud, you are a huge help along with the others as well.

i don't think new zunes even come with a software disks, old stock might. Just download the software.

To control the volume with the head unit instead of the zune, just turn the zune volume almost all the way up and then use the head unit volume. Your deck probably also has a source level adjustment like mine does, which you can use increase the signal sensitivity and get some extra volume if it sounds too low.

Also you're welcome.

So just download from the zune site?

I imagine it has a level adjustment. I just hope it sounds decent once I get my sub reconed or get something different.
