as my head unit sucks ( sony = I hate your guttz )

and gives off small hot dog dicks for power thru rca cables to my amps

and this causes me to turn the gain up on the amps more than nessary

to get "loud" - and I just now noticed this after installing my

component speakers

and I hear a constant "hiss" coming from the small tweets.

it was not verry noticable at all realley when I had cheap *** co ax's in before

but now with the nice component speakers in - its now a problem.

my local stereo guy says that I need a eq that gives off at least 5 volt/watt?

thru the rca cable outputs to the amp - and 9v out would be titts.

then I can properly set the gains on amps to get rid of the constant hiss

coming from the tweets ( that is also present when music is on pause )

note - this is not noise coming from engine - its not a whine and it does not differ in rpm of engine either- its just a constant low level hiss, like tv fuzz.

so I managed to find this one on the ebay,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching&item=370124601685&viewitem=

is it a piece of crap ? not worth my time ?

if so - can yall point me in the right direction of a OK one to get

under a hundred bux ?

thanks all.

im still verry new at all this - but im trying to soak it all up quickly.

I don't think an EQ is really what you'd need, nor would a higher preout voltage help you if your source is the problem.

Upgrade the head unit, making sure it's well-grounded, and see if the issue continues.

I was gonna say swap out the HU if you know it's shit. I would recommend a nice Eclipse or Alpine HU. I run Pioneer, but if you are having grounding issues now, you may not want to mess with one of those.

And my 800PRS has a 16 band EQ. My old Pioneer DEH-P690UB had a 7 band EQ. I think both alpine and Eclipse ones have 7 band.

here is my head unit,

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=17937

this place states it has 2 volts pre amp out puts.

from what I understand - 2 volts is pretty not ok

is why I wish to get eq to boost it up, and have ability to control sounds also.

the only speakers making this fuzz noise are the 2 small dome tweets that came with

my 6.5 door component set. all other speakers are not making this noise.

I have pioneer 4 by 6 up in the dash - and kicker 6 by 9 in the rears

and even the mid bass of the doors are not making any of this fuzzy noise.

its only the small dome tweets.

edit - o crap.

apparently I have 3 pre outs on the back of this thing.

im only using one of the front stage outs - and splitting it with y conectors.

maby thats why its fuzzy - im splitting a 2 volt pre out to each channel on my highs amp.

Im goin to the store tomorrow to get a third rca cable to run back there

will see if I improve at all......

so simple.

ghey.

I knew I should of not let brandsmart install my Hu.

The 2V outputs are not a problem. The noisy deck is a more likely culprit. It also may not really do 2V. Higher is not really better. As long as you have a quality deck and a quality amp, actual 1V pre-outs are plenty.
