Anyone tried ports on the side?

I am about to build a ported box for one 12 with aeroports to save weight and room. I dont want too deep of a box, so I will have a longer width..something like 14(h)x21.25(w)x16(d). Therefore the only reasonably place to put the aero/flare port without bending it will be on the side. The sub would be on the back facing trunk or on top facing deck. I just want to know if someone has tried ports on teh side and what were the results. This would be in a trunk car.

I also designed a box for sub and port back(since I read that it works the best for trunk cars), but would like to use that as my last option. here is the picture of this box:

That should be fine.

thats how my last box was but with a straight slot port sub loaded toward the rear of the trunk port on the drivers side did well on the meter so it shold be fine

oh snap, Ben comes back to Ca.com. congrats on meca S1 domination.

I've done 2 boxes with the sub facing back and aeroport facing the side. I believe what is important is to get the pressure hitting the trunk wall as close to the seats as possible. I've been having great results lately, there's even a box I have in my gallery to the left there as an example. Your trunk may not like it, but tis fun to try

Try that box design. If firing back it will help keep the wave from getting blocked due to the skinniness of the box. A long skinny box also pushes the subs away from the ports, which is a good thing. You can thank me later //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
