I feel the same exact way... almost like I was born 50 years to late for my own good. I think I would have rather lived in the 20's and 30's instead of today.

Air Force is the most laid back component of the Military. I could go on and on, if you want to know more, just shoot me a PM.

Think about it this way:

Army members still live in BARRACKS!

Marines get brainwashed (Only kidding)

Navy guys get caught screwing each other (I am serious on this 1)

When I was in Tech-School, we stayed in a $25M building, which was basically a HOTEL. Did PT 3 times a week. Weekends were free to do whatever.......Got to my first unit, and even my Commander was telling me not to call him Colonel.......Very relaxed environment.

I'm still in the AF, going on 7 years. LMK if you need any info.

PT is required now, Depending on your waist measurement(which is BS)gotta be able to do a certain amount of pushups and situps in 1 minute and run 1.5 miles in a certain time. It all depends on you waist though. Me I'm

dont join the navy.

well, somone in my bootcamp devision for the navy was 32. so i know age is not incredibly important.

its mostly got to do with health. if you are an otherwise healthy person and can run a 1.5 mile in 10~15 minutes and do 50 pusuhps\crunches - you can get through bootcamp.

when i was in the army about 2yrs ago, we had to do way more PT than that daily, and that was after basic training and AIT. if you want to go the laziest way (nothing wrong with that) go AF. i'd say it much easier than the army. we had to be able to do 42 push-ups in 2min, then do 56 sit-ups in 2min, and then run 2 miles in less than 15:56 (my best was 14:30). when i was going thru basic there was a "former" marine that was like 46 going in the army.

good times...

i'd have to say the laziest branch by far is the navy. i work for the navy (civilian), i know. i've never seen so many fat, out of shape people in my life. no requirements at all. even the people that fail the pt test and get put on there 'fat boy' program stay in, they never kick anyone one for it even though they're supposed to. they always have an excuse, and if they're an e-7 or higher, they somehow find a 'medical' reason that they can't pass them for and keep them in.

I agree with Dev, the AF certainly takes better care of their people than the Army.

Also, the others are correct about the physical side being more laid back.

I would think that the downside would be that the opportunities for advancement would be fewer due to the fact the AF is smaller than the Army. However, even if I am correct about that it may not make a difference if you are not planning on making a career out of the military.

this happens in the army too. also, they promote rank based on if you know how to answer questions at a board, not you're experience or leadership skills. i've seen tons of dumbass E-5 and above, and even some officers.

Its the same dang way across the board almost.. Marines, we have whats known as a cutting score once u try and hit E-4 or E-5.. It comes down to who blew better to get a better pro/con score, who shoots better(i.e. who got the most love from the pit), who gets the highest PFT score(PULL ups, crunches, 3 mile run), and who doe sthe most off duty education. all of that goes into your cutting score. Yeah we live in barracks, but at least it isnt squad bays like it was in boot camp or the "old corps".

Air force is the way to go if you are book smart, outta shape and lazy and dont want to get hurt, dirty, cut, scraped, cold, hot, sweaty, sick, insomnia, sore shoulders, lack of food, when you do get it cardboard tastes better, etc etc.

But i Love my Corps. I have no regrets. Its just the BS that you get used to and learn to live it love it cherish it. The Few, The Proud, The MARINES! oorah, kill, yutt and all that other happy horsesh!t

The physical side is starting to get up there with the Army and Marines, maybe not with a sack on your back, but its not as easy as it use to be...ie the bike test.

Advancement comes from how you test on the WAPS test, which is competed by your specialty code not everyone that is your rank. I think its like that for all branches. You get up to E-4 without testing then test the rest cept that E-8/9 are also up to your peers.

As I said I'm about to hit 8 years and reenlisted last year for another 4 so I'll be at almost 11 when thats up. Don't know if ill doo all 20. Since the career i'm in pays hella more outside.
