just like any small business. if you don't start with a large amount of capital, you will be in debt for the first couple years...

But if business does well, you will be able to pull out of that.

What part of wichita you looking at? Im from the area, and it seems it really lacks choices. Outside of Advance Audio and Street beats there doesnt seem to be very many reputable shops. Where have you worked? Pics of your work?

honestly with the way the economy is, id say you should wait a little while. It will be **** hard to get a good loan to get everything started and will cause major aggravation. You should get a good job and maybe do some stuff on the side in a garage, and save up your money.

Also, if i were to start a shop, the best way to go is to, even if your products are marked up, do really really good work. The better it works the more people will come by word of mouth, and most of the shops around me are ridiculously expensive and get everything done as fast as possible. One of my friends had this weird sound coming from his subs so i took everything apart, Car Toyz ran the RCA's speaker and power wire all on the same side, major interference. You would expect more from a place that charges so much you know.

I have worked for both "Street Beat" and "Advance Audio"...

I am thinking of opening a shop in Derby though. If you come around often im sure youve realized the city is just growing insanely. They have the biggest High School in Ks. Voted like one of the top 10 prime locations for Small Business's.

On the other hand I have watched both shops Ive workd for be ran and realized for 1) Yes being a dick COMPLETELY fails your business... Street Beats owner Is the biggest F*ckn Prick you have ever met and becuz Of that he is going under fast....

And for Advance Audio they are top notch yes but the owner has not a clue to what brands he even carry's let alone how to work or sell audio. Its the people he has workn for him that run that business and the 2 that keep it afloat are retiring in 2010. becuz there reachn 60 years old.... and yes one of the installers is actually 57! haha ... Other than that I would be the only worker for atleast the 1st year accept for 1 of my friends that would help out when needed. Names Terry Cleaton not sure if youve heard of him but hes been doin it all over KS for the last 22 years and is by far the best when it comes to any custom install around.

Yes, Derby is blowing up. I would say that would be a great place to open up.

The bank owns mine for a few more years.

It can be fun and it can be a pain in the ***.

You get those customers that say "you are the expert make it sound good with this music" Two weeks later they get something badass and you get paid.

Then there are the customers who say "on ebay" they think you can sale it to them for 10 less then ebay even when you tell them it is already $25 less then it costs you.

Taxes. Don't get me started.

just a small thought, from someone who knows very little about car audio or opening shop

make sure u have some brand name decent stuff (kicker comps and VRs) for the people who think thats where its at.

and then show them the good stuff (sundown 1st thing that comes to mind) the stuff they really want

i remember when i 1st decided to get into car audio i thought the L5s and L7s were the end all be all of subs
