anyone have one of those 1/18th scale rc buggies?

yuh thats crazy lol i just want something to mess with and race if i want to. gas is to expensive to try and do anything out of the backyard with (you can wrap serious cash in a real simple little engine) plus you'll need more than one hell with electric i can rebuild them i even have a buddy with a lathe. i figure for 150 bucks from tower hobbies i really couldnt go wrong

HiAmplidude,Ever here of a guy named Matt Herrington?
Wow, that name sounds familiar. Do you have any additional info'? It's been a couple years since I was in it.

World-famous Dick Crowe, multi-time world record holder on water, is a long-distance buddy of mine.

Brushless power will get the cost higher than nitro, but there are other rewards like: no mess, stink, noise, starting, tuning. But, because of the instant-on torque capabilities, the drive-train must be stronger than that on a nitro car. That can get expensive. One of my alloy transmission gear sets that I was prototyping, for example, cost the maker $5000+ to spin off a couple sets. Eventually we found a set that did what we wanted and was able to get the price down to ~$300 for a buyer, but that's still the price some people would pay for a decent rear end for a real car!

Ah... I never raced seriously. I was purely in it for my personal ambitions in something almost nobody was doing, and to share my learnings with the public to encourage growth in the technology.

I probably have seen his name in a magazine or something. Was he pro'? I did talk to a lot of great racers over the years.

Quite honestly I dont know. We raced together at a local race track for about a year. Got to be friends but he never said if he was Pro or not. What made me wonder one time was the fact that I saw a pair of front wheels for sale in the display case at the track we went to. They had his signature on them. His equipment was awsome!!!!

All depends on my mood really. LOL. I have been into nitros for about 11 years and electrics for almost 20. My yard is not near big enough for the nitros, so I usually take them to a buddies house (8 acres and a track) or to where I work (I am a supervisor at a concrete plant with a large quarry). The minis I can drop a pack in and run them in the living room or pretty much anywhere I want. Nitros are not a huge pain in the *** if you know what you are doing. I can fire both of mine with ease at any time and I may have to adjust my HS or LS needle a 16th or so depending on the weather. My honest opinion, the nitro MT's by far are a helluva lot more fun. I raced electric stadium trucks before selling them to get into the MT's. The MT's far out weigh the ST's IMO. Like I said though, that is IMO.
