Anyone have any experience with hdc3 subs?

A ported enclosure will have minimal excursion while playing tones near its tuning frequency. With my box tuned to 32HZ it barely moves while playing chopped and screwed songs but it is very loud. I would think that by this logic, tuning lower would be a safeguard against overexcursion. I am inclined to believe that the people tearing spiders are tuned higher and are playing below their enclosures tuning frequency causing over excursion and tearing spiders.
Agreed, playing them below tuning is overworking the suspension.

The first run of HDC's were designed as daily drivers on 1000-1200 watts. We soon found that endusers were using much more power and playing well below box tuning(flex vids) for extended time frames.

Subsequent production runs have had design changes in the suspension, spiders and glue joints to accomodate this type of abuse. The aluminum coil versions are now hand built in house with American spiders and coils and all glue joints are done by hand with American glues.

I hear what ur sayin but with the fs being higher than what the tuning is you run the risk of overthrowing your sub. I have no doubt that you can tune the HDC's lower but I believe that your stepping out of the mechanical limits of the sub. That's where I beieve people have been having issues. You can put retarded amounts of power to the AQ's but you still have to be smart about how much and for how long.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
i dont understand what your saying. your saying because the sub has a higher fs it will have less excursion when tuned higher and playing lower notes? that makes absolutely no sense. a sub will be better off tuned lower if playing lower stuff because it will have more control at lower frequencies. your trying to tell me aq subs are magical and mess up when tuned lower.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

LMAO thats not what I'm saying at all. The recommended tuning for the HDC's is 40hz. They will play lower. Agreed? Try putting 2k to the sub at 30 hz then try it at 40hz. AT 30 you run the risk of over throwing the sub. That's all I'm saying.

tune it at 35 and play 30 hz. thats what im saying. every sub will play lower than the box. some people think playing way under box with max power is aweosme and thats why they are breaking spiders. my bro plays stuff in the low 30's full tilt all day. subs dont move very much and dont got over room temp. tuned to 40 hz it would be different.

Hmm I didn't know that.. Learn something new every day. Keep up the good work Dj.

what tune is ideal? 4 12's and 4 2200d's. I listen to mainly rap/hip hop, bass tracks and want it to hit loud, lowand have some sq.
Do you even understand how much bass that is? IMO, that's too much bass for daily. You could blow your eardrums with 4 Cvx12's on 3000watts in a SUV. It will hit too hard. Have you even heard the Audioque HDC3. I think you'd like SD.2 better for actually enjoying music. Hopefully someone will back me up on this?
