Anyone good with Small Engine Repair

What's a Subwoofer?

I have a 14 hp Briggs and stratton motor on my Riding Mower, I have just replaced all the following.

Starter selinoid

Battery

Cleaned carb

Carb float

Carb float Needle

The Mower will start and run at idle, Still doesnt idle smooth though. But once I out it in gear and try to move, It will right away cut back idle, and backfire loud as shit! Would this be due to getting to much gas or not enough? Should I change the Sparkplug? Or could the carb still need cleaning?

I would think the carb is clean, Since I used the carb cleaner in the Bucket, and let it sit...And all looked clean, But there is one Screw on the outside of carb that was barely in when I bought It...Im thinking AirFuel Ratio?

Did you actually adjust the carb after you took it apart and cleaned it? Did you blow it with compressed air to make sure it was really clean? DO you have the manual for how to work on it? Get the manual. Probably $15 at an auto parts store or you will probably find it at a B&N or Books-a-Million or some such.

 
Sounds like the governor isn't functioning properly, assuming your carb has one. It's main function is to speed up the engine under a load and throttle it back under no load. Could be throttling it back, choking the engine and causing the backfires.

And it NEVER hurts to throw a fresh plug in. If the gap is too big, electrode worn away, then it might not be able to fire the mixture under a load, like when you try to mow.

Do some online searching as there has to be info out there that will help. Good luck...

 
The choke Might not be closing all the way...I do NOT have it on when i move...At idle it still doesnt sound right....It only backfires when moving...And try's to shut off...Im goingto replace plug, and check carb again, all i did was clean carb did NOT adjust jet's, But I was told all it needed was a Carb clean, And it turned out it needed alot more...I do not have the owners manual, I guess I will have to find out on here somewhere..

Another thing that is weird is the fact that the Pipe going to the motor itself that attatches to the carb, Is ALWAYS ICE COLD....Kinds weird too me...
