Anyone else serve in the military?

Bills are not debt. They're bills.
bunkerking09 - if you want to fly in the Army, don't go O. Get a warrant if you want to actually fly for more than a year or two after Rucker. I looked at going into the Army as a helo pilot when it was looking like th AF wouldn't let me fly. I canned that idea as soon as I found out that once you make Capt, no more flying for you.

USAF, K11H3C, UH-1 pilot, Major
You're really a pilot, how do you like it? I want to be a pilot so bad, I've gone and talked with Army recrutiers about the WOCS program and guaranteed flight slot, but they said I would have to go infront of boards and it would go as high as the batallion level. (I think is the Air Force's wing level?)

In all honesty I think it might be easier to get a commission through OTS or that NECP program. Right now I'm doing 2a0x1 , Electronic Warfare, we maintain radar jammer's for A10's and F16's. I know I would have to finish my BA to be any real competition (I have an AA in Applied Science). Being such a new airman makes it hard to distinguish myself besides the regular volunteering and being top of my class.

Ex Army

11B 1990-1993 Had old V identifier which is now a G identifier i believe

18B 1993-1997 Staff Sergeant who made the E7 list

18B 1997-2000 (inactive reserves)

2008 Old Lard Ass (Recovering)

US NAVY from 2002 till present. Petty Officer 1st class or E-6. I just left a Helo Squadron last January. Helotaxi in order for him to become a warrant officer he would have to apply for commision after being an E-7, which would take years.

Do what you can to make yourself stand out. Getting a flight slot out of OTS isn't impossible, but it by far isn't the easiest way way to do it. Getting your private pilot's license is pretty much a requirement to be competitive in that regard. The good news on that is that you know what you're going to do before you start the program so you don't get all the way through only to find out that you're going to be sent to do something entirely different.

Army works completely differently than the Navy in regards to warrants. The Army will take aviators straight out of high school into the warrant program. No prior service required.

did not know that because in the navy Warrant officer is actually CWO or Chief Warrant Officer, thanks for informing me.

Helotaxi, I was just looking up the program you were talking about pretty neat, Air Force can apply at E-5 , same with Army, Navy E-7 but can be waived for E-5, and E-6. We can be WO in another branch but not our own.

Army 13P FDC MLRS-SGT 2002-2006

Army Reserves 42A Human Resources-SGT 2006-Current

I might be a Admin ***** but I dont do that job. Iam the head of the Modern Army Combative Program for 1BDE 95th DIV. I still work for the Army as a DA Civillian Mil Tech.

Once you're past WO-1 you're technically a Chief Warrant Officer. The difference between the Navy Warrants and the Army Warrants is what the service uses them for. In the Navy, you're a specialist in the career that you've grown up in and they're paying you for that experience and expertise and giving you some more responsibility to go with it. In the Army flight program, you're going to be a pilot, a job that you have to be an officer (commissioned or warrant) to perform in any service. You can't build the experience that they want/need without the correct rank from the beginning. As such it only makes sense to start them off with that rank and then keep them in their specialty as long as they're in the service.

Nah it's FTS (full time support) or what used to be known as TAR (temporary active duty), we are the same as active duty but work with the reservist's, we don't have as many billets to go to but alot of our billets are shore duty. I just orders to a Reserve Center in Moreno Valley Ca, which is about 15 minutes from home for me.

Oh ok TAR yea you guys have harder time advancing than us and I thought My 4% chance of advancement was bad. But you never have to deals with boats either lol. Helotaxi thanks for the info I was just reading the instruction on it. Thats a pretty sweet deal for those selected.
