Anybody ever heard of these?

Well I burned one of the coils up on of of the drivers today. It was the one that was getting hella hot in the beginning. It's still playing pretty strong though so the other coil must be good. Don't know how they f'ed that one up. The other one's just fine. Doesn't even get warm. Even got the po-po called on me today for loud music while I was playing with the settings. I mean hell i live in the ghetto. I told the officer I didn't know I was doing anything wrong since everyone else does it to. He said "I don't know what you are listing to but people are complaining that stuff is falling off their walls" Oops. **** I guess they'll have to go get another crack pipe to hang on the mantle! I am thinking about trying a recone. Which one would be better a Fi or an RE? Or are they both about the same? But it made a pretty cool smoke show in my truck. Smelled like hell though.

Yeah but if I buy a good recone, I know it will be good. If anybody is curious here are some disceted(?) pics

hey pensacol. i'm about to put some subs in my truck, and i was wonderin if you would recommend buying these subs.
Their nice for the price. I liked them. I think this one was a dud though, coil must have gotten messed up in winding, because it got hot right off the bat and lasted 3 days. The other one is perfectly fine. No trouble whatsoever. They sounded good and got real loud. I would recommend them only because of the price. Even if 1 or both blow you are not out much anyways so it doesn't hurt to try.

3 questions....

What would you actually consider being a fair RMS to feed them? I'd rather slightly underpower than risk blowing em (shit I can buy an extra one right from the get-go, more cubes, slight less power. Maybe 300-350?

You do any box testing yet? Buddy wants to put some in his ranger

How the hell would I get somewhere near a 1ohm load with dual 2.8 coils? How many subs would it takes? 3? 4? 5?

I was feeding them 400 RMS apeice. The one must have been messed up in winding or something because it got hot right off the bat. The other one doesn't even get warm and played beautifully at 400 RMS. As far as box goes. The one I have is 4 cubes before mounting the subs. I tried inverted and the box was a little to big, but with drivers inside the box it's just about right. Tuned at 32 hz. So I would say that size is ok. And the coils are 2.8 ohms which relates to 4 ohms so 2 speakers could get you 1 ohm wired in parallel.

How does a pair of DVC 2.8 equal a pair of DVC 4? Wouldnt a pair play 2.8 or 1.4? I'd be using a minimum of 3 but thats when the math got confusing

Say the amp only see's 4 different ohms, 0, 1, 2, and 4. It can't see 2.8 and you can't go below the rated resistance for one coil so the resistance would be 4. 2 coils in parallel equal 2 ohms. 2 - 2 ohm speakers in parallel equal 1 ohm.

Edit: By the way correct me if I am wrong on this please.
