any way to measure amperage being pulled?

what the hell does speed have to do with anything?
I'm assuming he's talking about voltage. Higher rpm's=more amperage from the alt=more power.

Though the same effect could be accomplished by just revving the engine when its in park. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

but higher speed does not mean higher engine rpm //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

at least since the invention of the transmission it doesnt lol

Edited my post. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And yeah, transmissions ftw.

I dont think that is right at all.. I just tried it again and i cant get any reading.. Am i supposed to clamp ONE of the wires or BOTH together?

Also i have THESE settings in the section of A with ~

1000

200

20

Which one is appropriate to use..

When i pick 200 i get 00.0 output and when i pick 20 it gives me like 0.56 on volume 15..

I know that isnt right and when i SWITCH from 20 to 200 once i get a reading on 20 it turns into 5.6 and when i switch back and forth it GOES UP And UP AND UP AND UP each time i switch.. so i have to be doing this completely wrong.

This isnt working at all. I have it clamped on one wire and it reads 2.0 at full volume and 0.04 at half way..

WTF i got pictures here.

I would let the wire sit in the loop but i think it picks up some amps from the other wire because it reads different.

I pulled the wires apart more and let the clamp close and im getting a much clear signal now..

Depressing news..

14.4 and if i rev the engine i get 14.5 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

So that means im really only getting 460w ???????

It sounds way stronger than 460w...

Do you think its accurate?

Also what can i do to get closer to my 1000w i have a HIFONICS 1606d amp and i know it does WAY better than this..

32.5/14.4

also 2.23 ohm my sub shows as wired?

its wired in series at 1 ohm the sub naturally is 2 ohm.

Common guys, what can i do, what are my options?

Do i increase the gain to 64ACV to get my 1000w.. I dont want to blow my sub, am i stuck with this setting?

Since my sub is wired around ~2 ohm that means that i should increase the ACV to achieve 1000w so instead of 32^2/1 its 32^2/2 and another question now is, since its at about 2 ohm instead of the 1 i wired it for does that mean my amp will NO longer give the 1 ohm output it says it will, because 2 ohm is only about 1100w rms.

No its actually 14.4 and i did the test again and i got 13.8 it changes slightly every time i do it.

How can i get my 1000 CLEAN watts?

so if im at 2 ohm that means i just "pretend" that im setting the sub up for 2 ohms and i tune gain to 62 ACV right?

I dont want to blow my sub so if this is wrong please tell me.

Everything i thought i knew just blew up tonight with this amperage deal.

Edit: did test again and i have 14.5 again.

this changes everything i know about car audio.

No you can't just double it. Everything is exponential.

Try setting to 43-44 VAC.

43.58^2 = 1900/1.9 = 1000W Peak which would give you ~700 RMS

But make sure to measure your amperage and use the formulas given here to get everything as close as you can.

Its 2.2 ohm, 14.5 amps im reading at 32.5 v

Before i do this: I want to make sure i wont blow this sub..

Its a Phoenix Gold RSDC rated for 600w RMS

Everyone has told me it takes 1000w daily.. Now are they saying 1000w by just reading the ACV or 1000 true watts.. I dont want to blow this sub.
