Cant i use this thing on my speaker wire from the amp and multiply the amperage by the voltage going to the amp to get wattage?

I have two meters..

I already measure the AC voltage leaving into my speaker wires which is exactly 32v and i know that at 1 ohm im getting 1000w

what is so special about knowing the amperage?

32^2 / 1 = 1024W

No you don't know at 1 ohm your getting anything.

You don't know til you test it, until you test it your assumeing it.

measure output in acv using a regular dmm and the amperage of with the clamp

wattage is a combination of voltage and amperage.

That number you used is useful for setting your gains, but it does not show ACTUAL wattage being put out.

To determine your actual wattage you need to multiply AC voltage by AC amperage.

you dont need to, just sell your dmm's and go around all happy you have a 1000 watt amp.

no

you have to have a load, and besides your speakers impedence is gonna rise, so your really not even getting 1000 watts

No you cannot.

The clamp meter has to go around the speaker wire. That speaker wire has to be hooked up to the speaker. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Heh, alright im going to try to HIDE the horribly low long distance penetrating bass of 50hz in my garage..

I hope im ATLEAST getting somewhat close to 1000w, also im assuming that this INCREASES when i am traveling at say 30mph..

so if im only getting 850w at idle i should reach 1000w driving provided my alternator gives out more at 2k rpm.
