Any opinions on these 2" mids? Also, what do you think of this 3-way system?

I'm thinking about putting together a 3-way system with a 6.5" midbass in the door facing the middle of the car, and a 2" midrange and a 1" tweeter facing the passengers.

Here's what I'm looking at so far:

Midbass - Adire Koda

Tweeter - Focal TN45

Crossover - Madisound custom job

Any thoughts on these?

The midrange is where it gets tricky as the topic of 2" midranges is very rarely discussed and not that many companies make them specifically for car applications. Here's what I've so far. Any thoughts?

Not a center channel, just 2" mids on doors that face occupants? Hmm, why not, so long as you have amps that will push decent power at about 6/8ohms (home audio speakers tend to be in that range)

There are many SQ cars here that has all home audio 6 ohms speakers, except the subs.

i'm thinking about doing this too (small car too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif)...let me know how it turns out

Paikah...are those all good speakers? Are any of them the best? Is there any midbasses that are better than the Koda at the price?

Personally, I'd shy away from the dome mids.

Not that they're bad, but with a freq respons that starts at 500 Hz, you're leaving a pretty big frequency gap. Your midbass will suffer somewhat, as it will have to go up to 500 Hz or so - well into midrange territory.

The advantages of the domes are supposed to be excellent off-axis response, and small driver depth. I have read that they work well in systems that have the midbass in the door, dome midrange in a kick panel, and tweet in the A pillar.

I was considering the same thing - but I'm probably going to use a typical 6.5", 4", 1" setup, with a traditional cone midrange. Wider frequency response - and hopefully the midbass can stay in the lower frequencies.

well, according to a lot of people, the Koda's are the best bang for the buck. Plus, it's 4 ohms, off-axis (or was that off center?) for the car environment, etc, etc...

I'm sure Koda's are superb drivers, I just need to have a chance to listen to them.

Another thing is that since I drive all the time, not parked, a bit of SQ drop is no biggie for me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

There have been quite a few reputable people who praises the Koda's to no end. Why not have a listening test with it in your area? Also, you can see a detailed review of the Koda on the product review section of this same website. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Yeah...seriously though

What I'm thinking is that the Morels and Focals will be like a little comp set...and the Adires will work like a small in-cabin sub...

Giving subs more power really wakes them up. The MRP-500 is pretty low power. You would really notice more authority in your bass.

I’m sure they will be a good budget setup. I think they will lack some midbass but door treatment is super important so definitely be sure to do...
