Any one have experience with hoppin up V8's.

He found a 347 localy that he is going to buy he thinks...
guy said "it is fine how it is" but he took it out of his car and was planning to hone and re-ring it so... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
Yeah, im waiting to hear back from him before i hop on that. But i can get a stroker kit on ebay for $800 and a 302 block for 75 so we'll see.

PM me back ***.

what? you didn't ask anything. You just said you where going to buy that shortblock and juice it LOL...

that is probably going to blow your budget out of the water though. Unless you just stick the 351W heads on the 347. That guy probably wants close to $1K for that short block.

I might blow the budget to get something like that. Id get a set of Twisted wedge heads. I got a guy on craiglsit selling WP Seniors, TW 170s, and Eddys.
be careful with craigslist. it is REALLY risky buying stuff like that, I mean who knows if he threw a rod bearing or something. check the cylinder walls for sure!! since it is already bored that far you can't really do much else safely. I mean, you can stroke a 302 out to a 360 but that is pretty extreme beinge a 4.060" bore and a 3.5" stroke.

Personaly I would just stick with the 351W. If you can blow your budget for a 347 then it is simply so you can say "i have a stroker". blow the budget on the 351W and make more power while making it easier and cheaper.

buying used performance parts can be risky if you don't know what your looking for. i agree, i'd blow my budget on new parts for the 351 then buy a used 347.

i have several good friends running brackets classes with fox bodies. 3 run high 9's NA. 1 running a GT Vert, 408, stock style 4 link in the rear (after maket links with a 9 inch tho). his car weighs about 3000 with him. another running a notch, NA 393, tube chassis from firewall back, 4 link, 10.5 tire. he runs around 9.60s. car weighs 2600. also, all C4 cars. all you need.

I could still get a stoker kit for the 351 for 800 on ebay but the problem is i dont know what costs might pop up with the swap. Atleast i know with a 302 that i wont need as much because it belongs in there.
one thing you better remember is with a stroker you will be looking at machine work to the block. that will add up fast. if your going that route, look at DSS racing blocks. i found it to be cheaper with shipping to order up one of there level 10 302 blocks then it was to take my block and have it machined (bored, decked, line honed, stroker clearance, etc.)

I am saving money for tires and shit. Ill have almost 2K to put in the car but i only want to put 1K in the motor, i have Eibach springs, Weld stars, sway bars all on my list and i need to save some in the budget for possible expenses of doing the conversion since a 93 LX wasnt meant to have a 351 in it. K-Schutte has been extremely helpful even though he stopped PMing me back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
You talking prostars? You already have a 5 lug conversion on this car?

only thing you need to do to a 351W to get it in a fox is an oil pan and pickup tube. I have done it a couple times and ti was no harder than dropping the stock 302 back in. Now when I did the 460 swaps, that was a little scarier. Still pretty dang simple but tighter clearances.

here is all you need: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD-RACING-351W-FOX-BODY-MUSTANG-OIL-PAN-KIT-6675-A58_W0QQitemZ370301886543QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20091205?IMSfp=TL0912051910005r42

other option is to get an oil pan from any old parts store from a 351W equipped crown vic but I'd just go the "kit" route so you don't have to mess with finding the right pick up and such... Might also need 351W swpap headers, personaly my stock 302 long tubes worked for me and others have had them work fine as well but some don't for some reason, kind of hit or miss on that.

First and foremost you need to decide what YOU want to do and commit to it so people don't waste a bunch of time trying to help you out then have you change your mind //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
