Any one have experience with hoppin up V8's.

k if u r serious then this really isnt the best forum. there are hundreds of ford forums that can easily help. all this pro comp this, lunati that, stroker kits will blow your budget sky high. gt40p heads are plenty for what u r looking for. i would go with the c4 takes less hp to turn and u wont have the power to need a c6. 430 gears would be stupid. 355 to 373s would be perfect. read up on some fords furums and dont listen to all this crap. all these high end parts sound great and work great if you have plenty of money and the right combo. just trying to help man. think about it

LOL... I pretty much "built" him a top end (and cam) for right about $1K using "real name" parts with the exception of the ProComp heads. However as has been stated, they are a good budget head and will def. outflow the stockers and ported GT40's. GT40's would do the trick if he wants to spend some money having them worked over but I don't see stock GT40's flowing enough to make 400HP unless he just puts the heads on and boosts. He said he wants to stay N/A and goal is 400HP~, the $1k setup we have discussed will get him there.

OP: sbftech.com is the end all forum for you needs!

my first post of thread was spend as much money possible on heads. stock heads are horrible especially on the exhaust side.
I didn't read any of the thread, sorry. I have talked to him before as I have built numerous ford motors in my days and when I mentioned my SBF swapped Mazda RX7 he asked me a couple questions. So I just skipped reading the whole thread and PM'd him. You are right to spend as much money on heads as possible which in this case isn't much since he has a small budget. so given the $500~ budget for heads the best option would be some cheap aluminum heads. Leaving him enough for a cam kit, headers, intake, carb, roller rockers etc...

for $400 - $600 gt40s or gt40ps are your best choice for stock heads. for $1000 and up there are plenty of aftermarket heads. your heads have to go with the rest of the engine.
the ProComps can be had for the same amount and while they aren't as good as the higher end heads they are still better then any stock heads even slightly worked heads. GT40P heads would be a PITA with his project as he is putting the motor in a fox body and the spark plug angle really makes header clearance an issue. "Shorty" spark plugs would be an option but that is just one more hassle that doesn't come into play with the ProComps

oh no problem man. yeah if he can get the pro comps assembled for $600 i'd buy them.

Gt40 heads are a dime a dozen around here. Average price is around $200 bucks, you can find them cheaper if you shop around.

I'm sticking with my original statement. Stock 5.0 h.o short block, small cam, gt40p heads, 75-100 shot. Use the rest of the money on the suspension and tires, if you're not hooking your wasting power.

It's all about the total package.

I am saving money for tires and shit. Ill have almost 2K to put in the car but i only want to put 1K in the motor, i have Eibach springs, Weld stars, sway bars all on my list and i need to save some in the budget for possible expenses of doing the conversion since a 93 LX wasnt meant to have a 351 in it. K-Schutte has been extremely helpful even though he stopped PMing me back //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

i'd listen to k_schutte. from what i have read here he knows what he is talking about. not sure about the pro-comp heads. i have heard a lot of bad, but no personal experience. i built a 92 351 Fox, my first mustang. just do your homework. i had more money in it then what it was worth. a little machine work on the bottom, port polished E7s (gasket matched to intake and headers), custom cam (flat tappet cam, don't know the specs) victor jr intake, 750 demon. i also ran a Tremec TKO with 4:10s. ran ok. too much carb and not enough flow out of the heads. plus, that victor jr only liked high rpm (single plane high rise for ya).

here is a video with a leaking header.

if i had to do over, i'd just kept the 302, did a lightened 306, 331 or 347 with all the supporting mods. actually i love the talking with the guys that run the factory stock class in the NMRA. now those guys have some interesting knowledge and info.

just remember you want to build something reliable. sucks if you spend more time under the hood then you do driving it.

He found a 347 localy that he is going to buy he thinks...

guy said "it is fine how it is" but he took it out of his car and was planning to hone and re-ring it so... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
