Any one have experience with hoppin up V8's.

Yeah, the ProComps aren't the best by any means but they are GREAT budget heads for a little street/strip mustang like yours. I ran them in my RX7 and managed a 10.89, I'd say anyone wanting to make 500HP or less on a tight budget would have to consider the ProComps. Most of the issues you seen in the early heads I believe was due to poor casting mainly.

ProComp is Like Kicker... hard core enthusiests will make fun of you but they get the job done and are FAR better than stock.

I'd say the Lunati cam, the 190CC heads, long tube headers, the Air-Gap intake and a 700-750 CFM carb would be a strong runner! and cost would be right around $1K if you go with a used intake, used carb and summit brand headers.

I got my Holley 650cfm brand new off ebay for like $65 shipped and I know I have seen some remans. in the 750cfm range go for under $100. you can also look into Edelbrock and such, I just personaly prefer Holley

DeskTop dyno is putting it in the 400-430 HP at the flywheel range. Not sure how accurate it is but seem pretty close to me. It put my little 302 at around 550HP and in my 2600lb RX7 my best time is a 10.7X with a T-5 and an open diff. and narrow drag (205 aka 8") radials, now I have a built C4, a 4.10 LSD and 10.5 x 27 slicks so I should be dropping down into the 10.2~ range if the IRS don't bone me). That would leave me to believe I am around 450~ at the wheels assuming a 15% power loss that is around 520 at the flywheel so... should be relatively close.

If you where closer I would just sell you the motor out of the RX7...

not TOO bad as of yet, I will be doing a 8.8" or 9" solid rear when I get the turbo 408W in there. However I am considering selling the car to start my Mach1 project which would be getting an all forged 521/545 stroker with a little juice.

Thats ALOT of motor for a small car. I drove a Miata w/ a bone stock 302 in it. That was one of the funnest cars I've ever been behind the wheel of. Thing would get sideways like nobodys business.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I haven't read all the thread but...aren't Windsor heads smaller than the Cleveland ones and don't flow as well?

http://www.summitracing.com has some engine packages for fords to point you in the right direction and show you what it's going to cost. Their catalog even has a specific ford section in it...and it's FREE

There are a bunch of Ford and Mustang guys on http://www.motownmuscle.com that should be able to help with the build. Check them out.

yeah, in all honesty i will probably end up selling it and doing the Mach1 like I want to so bad! I actualy just went and looked at a 71 Mach1 last night. Pretty decent shape but the guy wants too much for it. It is SOLID as hell withthe exception of teh floor pans and trunk pan that he cut out. No biggy at like $300 for all the replacement floors. Only other thing it would need is a passenger quarter panel as it is REALLY dented in on the top body line adn they don't make those yet. However he has an entire solid quarter panel that goes with it so //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's on ebay rigth now with a $1500 starting bid and he said there is NO interest in the car yet. He is only selling them (he has a couple) because he has to file bankruptcy and "REALLY needs the money" so if it don't sell I think I will offer him like $800~ or so for it.

Actualy they "will" they call it a Clevor (clevland/Windsor). Takes a bit of work but isn't too bad however the intakes aren't cheap!! Stick with the procomps, they'll work great for your application.
