i just got this laptop and so far i love it

HP Pavilion dm4-3170se Beats Edition Overview & Specs - Laptops - CNET Reviews

i'm trying to play fallout 3 on it though and it's supposed to be able to run the game fine even at high settings but whenever i go to start a new game it loads the intro and home screen then i push new game and it crashes. the game is on a disk and the disk is fine. the computer has been running oblivion very well. is there anything i can do to see why it's crashing on fallout?

It's probably the Intel 4000 GPU. I know that the 4000 is supposed to be a big improvement over the 3000 but I still wouldn't play something as demanding as FO3, even though it is an older game. Is your laptop overheating at all? It's good to get a cooling pad even if you don't game.

I had a dvt5 with a 9600GTm and tried to play Dragon Age Origins on it. It would play for a few minutes then crash.

How is the Beats software on that for eq tuning and whatnot? I'm wanting to pick up a HP envy 4 soon and it would be nice to know how the SQ is since I will be in library listening to music a lot.

That laptop can play FO3 just fine at medium settings. The same goes for a 9600GTm and DA:O. Most of the time crashes are due to outdated drivers.

OP, update your graphic driver.

Lol youll never be able to play that on high
I wouldn't bet on that. It really depends on what resolution he will run it at. It probably won't run on high at 1600x900, but at 1366x768 it should with good FPS. If Crysis will play at 25-30FPS on High at 1366x768, FO3 won't have trouble at all.
