Or give me some input on what would be a good receiver. I don't want to spend any more than 400 for it.

Also, my living room is strange. Has a slight ledge that would fit a long array of speakers nicely. I'm thinking 8 6 1/2's in an array with tweeters. Adding a subwoofer later on.

After some reading I will either be going with 5" or 5 1/4" due to the width I have to work with.

You usually can't go too wrong with Pioneer.

But, I don't know anything about those two receivers in particular.

You know, I thought of you yesterday when I was reading this months Stereophile. Not sure why, maybe because you always link cool home speakers but they have a pair that look like eye balls and the setup (all digital processing) costs something like 265,000 dollars!

Pioneer always offered good bang for the buck. Is there a store you can audtion the system at? The sound will likely be fine. My concern would be how easy is the operation of the unit. Use the front panel and the remote control to see how much you like it.

Thanks, that is a good point. I've been looking at a few. I just got a new lcd for the living room that is Hi-def and I want to make sure I can plug my hddvd (i know I know, but it was free) and my dvd player in and have it all running through the receiver.

I'll see if I can go to best buy or something.
