any deadening i can get at home depot or lowes?

Aluminum foil Protecto-o-Seal from HD works just fine. Been on the car for 2+ years now and NONE has come loose, including the trunk lid. It's all in the prep I guess. No rattles, no road noise, and inexpensive.

Not saying there isn't better out there, but it will work just fine, especially if trying to save a few bucks.

Do you know for certain whether that is butyl or asphalt based? If I am looking at the right thing it looks like asphalt according to the hazardous material info:

http://www.protectowrap.co.nz/downloads/data%20sheet%20Protecto%20Seal%2045.pdf

Asphalt (petroleum; bitumen) 8052-42-4 50-80% 0.5 mg/m3 TLV-TWA

i think you are correct, well 50-80% correct

I have the original asphalt based second skin, d*mn near identical to peel and seal.

My shit has been on for 3+ years and shows no signs of coming off. It did peel off in a few places because it was a strange angle/didn't prep it well enough.

But on my doors and back wall, that shit ain't comin off any time soon. Plus I think peel and seal will have an easier time sticking to the back of fatmat versus a painted/uneven surface.

They are both similar in thickness and quailty.Bout the only diff is they put a name on it and make it in wider sheets then peel n seal.
well that means absolutley nothing when youre talking about deadening. and it appears that peen'n'seal sux at sticking yet my fatmat sticks like a mofo.

Because I trust what this guy says when it comes to deadening material:

what makes him special? looks like hes a no one around here to me.

im not saying fatmat is the best or anything. i bought it several years ago for my blazer b/c i got 100 sq.ft. for $100, and i never got around to using it. maybe its doesnt deaden like the others do, but i do know that it sticks very well and doesnt give off any "gases" lol. well see how well it deadens though when im done with this project.
