Antennas, Is there better then factory?

Is there a better aftermarket antenna then that of my factory one on my 85 Monte Carlo SS.

I have had different head units, and they all have terrible reception.

Whats out there that is better?

Get a booster, it makes a world of difference.

Dont even need the antenna after you install it.

Supposedly antennas lose sensitivity over time, due to corrosion and surface wear. Replacing the entire antenna and cable is your best bet. I'm planning on doing mine too.

Didyouhearthat is right, antenna's go bad (Ive been told as early as within 2 years of being new). Try replacing it. That's much more likely your problem than having gotten 4 h/u'd in a row with lousy reception.

I just did a job on a 67 Impala.The guy complained of static and interferance.So I replaced the entire cable and antenna and it worked good as new.

You could order a factory replacement from somewhere online.Or go to a local CA shop and get an aftermarket one.

the antenna boosters do help the reception a lot...but if its a bad antenna...and reception is poor its not gonna work like it should....most only work for FM but there are some designed to help AM and FM reception....

A booster will only amplify the problem, making the bad reception louder.

Replace the whole unit with something new as suggested. Ive used this type before with good results. Also in your car, I would mount iton the rear Quarter panel, at a slight angle back.
