Another Virgin Install

Ok guys, i just picked up 2 infinity 1242w subs from the store. i ordered some old 160w kenwood KAC-744 amp off ebay for 20 bucks that works. So now i guess im looking for what else i am going to need and what would be the best way to hook them up. Should i bridge the 2 subs and run the amp mono or keep them separate and run them, and i dont knwo how to wire it. or just **** it up and buy a real amp. Also im not a complete retard i can match solors connecting but im not sure on all the ohms and stuff. This is all going to be ran off a Sony CDX-F5700.

I am not looking for some huge bumps, just sounds so much better with subs than stock speakers.

Do i need battery terminals? a fuse by my battery for the power? How thick of wire should i go? And any other virgin question you might think of.

Thanks

You cant run that amp mono, it can only be bridged down to 2 channels. It's rated at 110W x 2, I assume at 2Ohms but i cant find the specs on it. It will work, just be carefull with the gains so you dont get clipping. As for wiring just buy a kit, wal-mart has some for cheap. As for wire size run 4 gauge, leaves room for later upgrades and it's better to be to big then to small.

You'll need a fuse up front by the battery (within 18" of it). You will need a way to attach it to the battery.

Also, like suggested above, if you are planning on running a more powerful system later on down the road, running a larger power wire wouldnt be a bad idea, but 4 gauge is still alittle small. I'd go with no less than 2 gauge. If you do run a larger wire, you'll need to get a distribution block.

Check out weldingsupply.com for the power wire...https://weldingsupply.securesites.com/cgi-bin/einstein.pl?Next::1:UNDEF:OR:terms::pA.

http://www.knukonceptz.com/ has good prices on some of this stuff.
