another sundown vs aq thread?

Friday next week? Or tommorow? LOL.. I just checked the parts shipment tracking and shows they will be delivered on Monday August 3rd. Some more orders will likely ship as not all of them need parts, some just need soldering touchups or other small parts that I have in stock, but most of the mosfets I am out of stock on, but they are already coming, just won't be here till monday... like I said my rep is out on vacation that I normally deal with and the girl in his place wasn't quite as quick to get my order processed. Should have shipped out end of last week and would be here by now....
hmm hopefully i will have mine by next friday,i go on vacation the following week and i don't want my goodies siting on my front porch for a week:crap:

Little FYI -- I tracked down most of the past failures to vibration / poor mounting... so be sure to mount them well and not to your box or just sliding around on the floor.

I tried to kill one on my test bench with clipping and couldn't do it... I put in bigger fuses and ran it wide open until the case was nearly 160 degrees. Spent about an hour or so playing sine waves through it with all knobs wide open. The level I was playing it at would pop the 150-amp factory fusing.

Don't do that to your amp by the way.

The upcoming v.2 model will improve on anything we have found to improve so far //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I'll have pics available to the public soon. We moved it to a higher quality double sided board and an, IMO, superior layout.

What is your order number and I can tell you that. If need be it's not a problem to hold on to it and then ship it to you so that it will arrive when you are there.

You mean the external fusing that comes on the amp, right?
Yes. I was doing testing to figure out what improvements need to be made for the v.2 model -- and the only failure mode I can really find is vibration related. I even put in bigger fuses (200 amps) so I could make more power continuously to try and hurt the amp.

We don't normally do the "upgrade" thing here or trade-ins.
The Sundown 1200 > AQ 1200 in power output period.

AQ1200 = Sundown SAZ-1000D, about 1100 watts. Why they called it a 1200 I don't know. The SAE-1200 is really a SAE-1500. Just FYI.
calling DJ a liar?

So does the SD1200 use spring clips and that's why they fail due to vibration? If so will v.2 be addressing that issue?
It doesn't use spring clips - the board just needs to be secured a little more (extra screws) to withstand poor mounting. Those that have them mounted down well really don't have a problem as it is, though.

They are all sold now, the clearance 1200D's gone. All 16 of them. Someone purchased the last 7 all for themself...
I haven't had the AQ1200D on my desk, but I seen plenty of those boards, and because of that I am a pretty good guesser at what's in there. It might make 1200 watts if it's running a little higher rail voltage than the SAZ-1000D, but even with super high rail voltage it's not going to touch the output of the SAE-1200D, even if it used better than IRF640/IRF9640 mosfets on the output, which to my knowledge there really aren't better choices than those in TO-220 device cases. there are bigger N channel mosfets, but not bigger P Channels than the IRF9640. If you find some, and they are at least in the 200V range, please let me know, I would like to do some experimenting on SAZ-1500D's to see if I can get 3000 watts out of one with upgraded parts and transfomers.

The NiNE.1 I HAVE worked on many of those, they are similar to the SAZ-1000D but probably a little more output as the power supply I think is a little bigger, but the output section is pretty much the same size, I would say 1200 watts @ 1 ohm with 14V would be a max to expect from a NiNE.1.
Eh, I think he's just stating what he found:) Different people, different positions, different results.
i think he is stating what he sells.

Some people have got thiers, or they are in transit (on the shipping truck headed to them). I got the parts in early, they came in Friday! Yay!

I had a funeral, a really good friend of mine, yesterday, and viewing on Friday, so haven't been at the shop, so the parts coming in early don't really help much, but will be back to work on those amps either this evening or starting Monday morning. There is a SAZ-3000D on my desk I need to finish up, and a Stetsom 7k2d, but those shouldn't take long, the SAZ-3000D is almost done.

I never mentioned DJ. And you fools who think you know more than I do about amps can **** it. The board in the A1200D is similar if not the same performance as the SAZ-1000D and that is fact. The SAE-1200D is a beast of a cheap amp, it will literally SMOKE the A1200D. Doesn't matter what I sell. If Sundown was a POS I would tell you. The SAE-1200D is cheap, and not my favorite, but it is a powerhouse and I cannot argue with that.
