Another circuit city **** up

ok this dude at my school brought his system to circuit city to get a ported box and 1/0 wire... of course they told him he needed a capacitor. His car is a escape hybrid. Anyways they had the box like sideways so the subs were facing the side of the car and he moved it bc it rattled everything. Well shortly after getting it his amp went into protect. He took it back and they said it was a bad ground and claimed to fix it. Now its to the point where the amp is always in protect, he took it back yesterday and they said that its not their problem because he voided the contract by moving the box. They were also pissed because the apparantly ruined a tool by cleaning the paint off the surface when "fixing" the ground. Well i went out at lunch and looked at it. They put the ground on a rear seat mounting bolt, which goes through a painted black plate that is on the body. When they "fixed" the ground it looks like they got a screw driver and scraped the paint... guess htey havent heard of sandpaper. ANd the ground is still shit because the other side of the plate that is against the body is painted (i assume). Also, the volt meter on the capacitor always reads 7.9-8.5 volts. Tomorrow im bringing a socket and some sand paper to fix his ground. If that doesnt fix it what is wrong with it? I have no idea why the capacitor reads 8v when the car is running and the amp is in protect.

could only be getting 8 volts if its a bad cap. or they wired something funny on it

Fix the ground, and lose the cap too. If it's a bad cap, it could be causing the problem. Yet another reason NOT to have a system installed at Circuit Sh1tty.

its funny that some people wonder why we think they're idiots, especially when a big box chain is trying at all costs to honor a warranty because you changed the ****ing direction of a box.

Go up to that circuit city and tell everyone that is looking in the car audio section about their shitty work, and shitty warrenty. Then they wont have a job anymore.

actually from my understanding, when they install the box, they do it the way they want and if you want it another way you have to do it after you leave the shop and it voids the warranty. All you have to do is make some hell in the store, ask for the manager, BE NICE with him or her, walk them to your car, show them what is wrong, ask them to fix it or ask them to take everything they put in out, you have 30 days with them on stuff like this, Moving the box is bulsshit, if you had to move the box to get to your spare, i guess that kills your warranty as well. If this dosent work, after BEING NICE, then ask for the ole REG office number. They hate whn you do this, no manager wants his or her store called in about customer compliant.They loose bonuses behind stuff like this. All in saying is, there was a why to fight this"BE NICE" !!!

don't you need to charge those caps before you install them?? If so maybe they didnt fully charge it, or charge it at all...??-

Sorry to hear about your friend's problem. I actually work with Circuit City and recommend having your friend email them at consumer_affairs@circuitcity.com. They are really responsive and should be able to help your friend solve his problem. Good luck!

straight up, have the kids mom go in there. even if hes like 25. whenever i have a problem with something my mom goes and *****es and works the manager and always manages to get me money back and shit for free and the problems are always solved. moms work magic like crazy
